SNES 9x sound crackling
« on: May 29, 2017, 07:01:19 am »
Wondering if someone could help me with this. I recently received my GPD q9 and I'm loving it. I started a previously saved game of ff6 from my PSP go and decided let's put this save on my GPD! Well for some reason I keep getting little skips in sound. I mean the game runs beautifully, but the sound skips are bugging me. Has anyone else had this issue?

Try saving from in the game, not from a savestate, and reset the game and load your regular save and see if the problem is still there.

Check the Sound options in Options > Audio and try changing the size of the buffer.

I don't know WTF is going on. I loaded up a regular save and still does it. I also changed the sound buffer from 6 to 10 back down to 3 and still does it. But the main stock SNES emulator doesn't do it at all. But there is no way for me to get into the settings to find my save file and use that instead. If it matters I'm playing ff3

Go to v?deo settings, disable Skip later frames
Also in video settings select detect screen refresh rate and set and should be fine. Or just use snes9x from retroarch which is better.

If I turn skip later frames off it is actually worse. I tried the detect screen refresh and it still does it. I even messed with the sound buffer frames and nothing. Come on I know my q9 is an amazing device why is this difficult to get the sound right? I downloaded John SNES lite, but I can't seem to load my .srm save for FF3.

Not all save states are compatible with all emulators. Try snes9x from Retroarch which works better. But I don't remember having sound issues with snes9xEX when I had my q9.

Maybe I'm just being nit picky, it does like 20-30 seconds and then the sound skips a tad. I notice alot because my earbuds are in most of the time.

Try with Retroarch, their cores /emus are generally better than Robert Broglia's ones.

Hey downloaded RetroArch snes9x 2010  and fixed the issue! Took me a few minutes to get my save up and running but I got it working. I don't know how RetroArch is so difficult with a GPD. It recognized the gamepad and works amazing! I love this thing!!

Does that also apply for other platforms like ps1,Sega, and gba also? I'd love to set me up some nice cover art

Yes
Also I've made custom theme for Arc Browser
You can check it here: http://boards.dingoonity.org/gpd-android-devices/(custom-theme)-arc-browser/

At 5:05 you can see how you can start games from Arc Browser using RetroArch emulator (no need to start Retroarch separately, just select game and play it)
