I think may have been defrauded, I used aliexpress...

When you go with AliExpress/Alibaba/Taobao it's like buying something at the flea market with a blindfold on -- you never know what you're going to get. I say peace of mind is worth a few dollars more by buying from Willgoo, Geekbuying, etc.

My condolences to nielo360 and hope you used paypal...

Anyway, I bought a GPD G7 from Willgoo a couple of days ago. Does anybody know if they are shipped with the new stock firmware (based on Skelton's ROM) ? And more importantly, are new units shipped with the fixed DPAD diagonals or is it still a matter of luck?  ???

Sorry for dredging up an old topic, but I have to disagree with Deen0x; the G7's screen definitely has a slight blue tint. It's not bad enough to be distracting, but you can see the difference when compared to another screen. See the attached pic (trigger warning: multicolored cartoon horse).

The G7 is in the foreground, behind it is a TV connected to the G7's HDMI-out. The center of the logo appears pink on the TV, but it's more of a lavender shade on the G7's screen. To make sure the TV's hue wasn't off, I also compared the same app running on my phone (Kyocera Rise), the logo had the same pink tone on my phone as on the TV. Sorry I couldn't include my phone's screen in the comparison pic, I was using the phone to take this picture.     :P

Still, the screen has enough brightness that you shouldn't have any trouble telling colors apart. In fact, it's so bright that you'll want to turn the brightness down when playing indoors or at night.

I have to check, but I my unit does not have this screen issue. Still, it has the DPAD problem, anyway...

What I wanted to ask, and I think is a bit stupid to open a post for this is if using Skelton rom for the G7 is as important as it was for the JXD consoles. I like GPD's gamecenter, Happy chicken or whatever it is called...

Also, has anybody connected a wired PS3 controller to the G7?  I am trying to connect a Neo Geo CD for PS3 controller and a HORI mini Stick for PS3 and I have no luck even with apps that support it natively. Do I have to download additional apps?  :D

I've been okay with the stock rom too, so I wouldn't say Skelton's LegacyROM is absolutely necessary. But there are some attractive features of it, like over clocking and device spoofing, so I'll probably try it out soon. Having to hunt down alternative apk downloads because google play store says my device isn't compatible (even though it is) gets kind of annoying.

I was able to get a wired PS3 controller to work in ePSXe and PPSSPP. It also kind of works in the launcher, but EVERY button press gets interpreted as a tap (same as buttons 1 and 4 on the device), even pressing the D-pad. ePSXe has settings to automatically detect and map the controller, but it's not too intuitive, just keep at it and you'll get it working. With PPSSPP I had to map the controls, and it was a bit of a struggle. It seems my controller is constantly sending accelerometer signals (even when it's perfectly still), so I'd have to hold down the PS3 controller button while tapping the "map" button on the screen, even then it was a coin toss as to whether it would map the accelerometer signal or the intended button.  ::)

I think this is a driver or programming error.

I had the same experience with the controllers. I have multiple USB controllers and there was always an accelerator input in the button mapping. Very annoying.

Yes, G7 is really a good game console! Unfortunately, it's short of goods in market now. However, GPD is planning to upgrade G7 from 8GB to 16GB in the following weeks. That sounds really great!

Good, but I would like to get an IPS screen, Q88S' D-pad and some additional action buttons.

Hey there!

I just bouth a G7A and I'm having trouble with root. I thought that they came factory rooted but apparently mine is not. I've just updated to 4.4.4 and still no root. Anyone can give me some light over this?

Thanks!
