Question about Ravensword:Shadowlands on the G5a
« on: June 07, 2014, 04:21:28 am »
This game looks kind of cool.  I was looking for something kind of "Skyrim-esque" that I could play on my G5a.  I saw a gameplay video that DeenOX posted using the JXD s5110b with the Tincore keymapper, but I read that Ravensword:Sahdowlands now supports gamepads natively.  Has anyone tried this out on a G5a yet?  I typically prefer games that can be natively controlled vs. emulated screen presses and I wondered how well this worked.  I figured I'd ask if anyone knew before I spent the money on the game.  Thanks!

I'm afraid there is a problem.

I just installed Ravensword and it can't be played with controls enabled. There is controls detection at startup, but if you click on Yes, it's just displays that "foggy rocks" rendered scene endlessly without game menu - so you cannot do anything. If you click on No, you will see then that "foggy rocks" is actually main menu's background. And you can play in that case - but you cannot turn on inbuilt controls of your device anywhere in-game.

I've noticed same problem few months ago on JXD S7800b, I guess it's common problem of the RK3188. I will report to Crescent Moon Games about it. Let's hope they will pay some attention.

Yeah I actually installed this again the othe day and the controller problem hasn't been fixed, you can map a profile in Tincore though.

Also don't pay $7 for it, the game is ok but not really worth that. It's frequently on sale so I would just wait, Earth & Legend is currently on sale for 99c/69p if you want some Elder Scrolls style gaming.

Got this installed just now as I've been away for a funeral the last couple of days, unfortunately it doesn't work properly with gamepads. The left stick and run button are detected (maybe others, didn't play it for long enough on the G5A) but the game uses a forced landscape layout like a phone on it's side but with the status bar still along the right hand side. Because of this the controls are rotated 90 degrees (pressing up moves the player left, pressing right moves them up etc), Tincore is at 90 degrees too so using a mapping profile wouldn't work either.

It's pretty much unplayable on the GPD and other Android consoles unless the developers fix this or there is a way in Tincore to force it back to landscape.
