overclock gpu?
« on: April 28, 2014, 12:53:30 am »
hi skelton i have just received my g5a a few days ago and after trying the stock rom for a few minutes just to see if my unit was actually working i immediately installed your legacy 4.2 rom with the overclock kernel. i must say its working very nicely but as always i wouldn't mind squeezing a little more power from it. i was wondering if you could create a kernel that not only overclocks the cpu but also the gpu and ram. maybe cpu 1.6 gpu 600 ram 600? would this be possible? i would be more then happy to be your guinea pig. if it is not possible i would still like to deeply thank you for all your great work and incredible roms.

also thanks to tincore for your great software and drivers.

Gpu is already 600 if you use ondemand and performance governors. Ram cannot be overclocked, it freezes inmediately.

I use No-frills CPU control from the Google Play store.  It is free and with the overclock kernel Skelton made it allows you to set max to 1.608 GHz and min to 312 MHz.  With the ondemand/deadline settings my g5a seems to have good battery life (>4 hours) and plays most of my emulators very well.  The only emulator I have trouble getting great performance out of is PPSSPP, but I don't really know very much about the settings yet.  Drastic DS, Nesoid, Gensoid, N64oid, and epsxe all seem to run well with these CPU settings.
