agree with this.  I love the XD, playing it right now as a matter of fact.  However the HDMI issue I commented above is a topic I wanted to see if anyone else has noticed.

Mine just arrived, so after I play with it for a bit, I will give this a test.  I have a Blue 32GB from GeekBuying.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the unit!

It may seem natural and easy, but do not push the screen open beyond second lock. Sorry for double posting this, but you put pressure on the screen, and after me doing this dozens of times over the few days I have had it, on both sides the screen plate is not slightly bend. It's not a problem at all yet because it's build very solidly and if I stop doing it now it will never be,  but this really is something you should notice.

Keep it at lock 2!

I am not sure I am following.  Mine opened smoothly 180 degrees without any noticeable pressure on the screen.  First click is about 100 degrees, and the second is around 150 degrees.  Mine is still smoothly opening, without any additional tension, up to 180 degrees.  At that point it stops.  Are you saying that the extra movement from the second click to the 180 degree opening is somehow damaging the unit?

Yeah true. to 150 is fine. Move it to 180 now. Then look at the back of the unit, where the screen panel goes into/connects with the bottom panel where the controls are. You will see it's bend outwards at the sides. Then put it in 150 degrees. You will see it suddenly fits perfectly and is not bend at all/perfectly straight. Hence my guess that the 180degree thing puts tons of pressure on that plate with the screen. But I am not sure - could be me imagining things. I mean it does move smoothly with no noise indeed. ...

but do you see the bend as well?

I'm looking really hard, but I don't see any bending or pulling.  I swear I'm trying to see it.

Is yours the Blue one also?  Maybe it is a difference between the blue and black?

I got my 32GB today, went to the Play store, and started installing games.

I noticed some were erroring out with "Couldn't install on USB storage or SD card."

I'm using a 128GB Samsung (bought from newegg) Micro SD card that is brand new and was formatted Fat32 before inserting.

When I look at storage settings, it sees it as 120GB.  Also, the apps settings don't have a button for Move to SD Card.

In storage settings, I picked Erase SD card to see if that would reformat it, in case that was an issue.  It unmounted, formatted, and said "Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped."  When I clicked OK, it just came back.  The only thing I could do was power it off, since nothing else would respond.

Powering back up seemed to  make it not miss a beat.  It still shows the SD Card in storage settings as 120GB.

When I connect a USB cable to my Windows PC, it sees the 32 GB internal drive as "SD Card".  The microSD card is also seen as "SD Card" and 119GB free of 119GB.

Any thoughts on how I can make it use it as /sdcard?  It looks like the onboard 32GB may have a directory already in use.

update: Thank you, Skelton. That makes perfect sense. I'll be less greedy about having ALL my games on the device.  :)

People have been wondering my thoughts on the GPD XD, so I thought I would give some quick thoughts, since I haven't yet used it for days.  Mine is the 32GB Blue unit from Geekbuying.

Likes (so far):
I am loving the joysticks, weight of the unit and the button styles.  I don't mind the clicky buttons, but they are a bit louder than I am used to, and can see how they bother some people.
The screen is nice and bright, and I like the tightness of the hinge.
The port layout, and having everything in the back is a good design choice.
The speed of the device is very good.
First app I tried to install, which didn't install on the Q9, installed and ran!
Overall build quality seems nice.  I wasn't expecting the solid feel of the device.
Screen adjustment has two locking positions, and are actually at common positions (for me).
Touch screen is very responsive, and I've yet to notice any ghost touches (which I have with other devices).
All-in-all, it makes a decent Android device.

Dislikes (so far):
Way too much bezel.  It is a nice sized unit and the top screen space is really wasted.
I am not impressed with the dpad; mushy is an understatement.
I really hate the default home screen.  Changing it to any other preinstalled home resets after reboot.  I know I can download others and will... but Oy!
I'm not a fan of the button layout.  I'd like to see the Home button where the power is, and the rest of the Action Bar buttons on the sides of the home.  These are buttons that you use often, and since your thumbs are on the joysticks, put them near your thumbs.  Put the power button down where the home button is (you only use it twice!).
My volume bar is popping up on the screen for no apparent reason.  It isn't adjusting though.  Just appearing on the screen for a few seconds.
No way I've found to unlock the device using the controls.

As of now, I am happy with this purchase.

the mount point for your sdcard is /mnt/external_sd/

to manually change the mount point or symbolic linking I think you'll need to modify either vold.fstab or /fstab.<device> you can try to modify it yourself but would highly recommend against it unless you know what you're doing.

https://source.android.com/devices/storage/config.html

EDIT: Also it might be in init.d I haven't checked yet to see if it's just a soft link.

I'm sure a custom rom will be in this device's future at some point

semler, this device use unified storage, so I don't suggest editing fstab. If you want your games in yout microSD it's simpler to use folder mount.

A lot of new threads out there.  I think the 32GB may have more issues than others.

Added the Baidu Firmware link to the first port, since 3.3.3 is out.  I've downloaded the firmware, and there is no changelog contained.  Uploading to FileDropper.

FileDropper link added to OP.

Anyone have issues with scrolling? When in the play store or chrome, when scrolling in one direction, it seems to snap back in the opposite direction. Like I'll scroll down two screen heights and it will jump up a screen. Kind of like a two steps forward, one step back kind of effect.

I can try and make a video if it's not clear.

Does this by any chance happen when you scroll using the analog stick? Because in that case, it's because when you move it down to scroll down, after that you move it up back to neutral. I had this on archos gamepad 2, q9, g5a, and xd - it's normal. :)

With your finger, I also have it sometimes, the touch screen is very nice and sensitive. The more you get used to it the les s you will have this problem. From what you describe it does not sound as if your device is defective in any way - but if you want to be 100% sure, test all controls with gamepad tester and the screen with multitouch test, both from the playstore (and free). :)

yeah mine has that too. And my Q9. It's a very receptive touch screen which is really nice, but in the beginning you get this a lot, especially if you are used to screens you have to put more pressure on (like the archos gamepad 2 I had before the Q9).

No problem at all AFAIK :)

Yeah, Archos GamePad 2 was so crap in that regards.

That, altough somehow it was great to play rythm of fighters on it, as the actual latency of the panel when it registered a touch was very low.... but at first I thought the panel on my Q9 was defective because I kept getting "ghost presses", then I realized it was so much more receptive/better that those were actually supposed to happen >_<

bigger issue was the button mapper sometimess crashing while playing and having to manually restart it... oh god... that cost me some lives in expendables rearmed... the stock mapper on the q9/xd is like a million times better! Overall I really liked the archos tough, good controls, great screen, and good (standard rk3188) emulator performance. *decent*/usuable speed as a general-use tablet... shit speakers.

Anyway we are getting off topic XD

I can confirm I have the same issue with mine. It appears to be when flicking and changing direction, the sensitivity picks up the movement of the finger and reverses the scroll direction.

I noticed on my 32GB Blue GPD XD that the small yellow leakage in top right hand corner, I'm guessing its from the backlight, is that normal?

I also downloaded Amazon Underground App and tried some apps and one out three worked, one would crash at loading, and the other would just be just a black screen. however two out of three games work on my LG G3
