Latest PPSSPP builds crash.
« on: December 27, 2017, 11:15:36 am »
All latest PPSSPP builds since "v1.5.4-30" crash trying boot any game with any set of preferences on my gpd xd with 1.8 mhz legacy rom.

Can anyone try latest PPSSPP build this on Legacy or Stock rom? Please let me know the results.
Devs on github say that is out of memory error, so it may be caused by my device malfunction.
Thanks.

Have you tried loading the game from a different microSd? Maybe if the Sd is damaged can provoke that. Or from internal memory.

I'm using only internal memory, and when I roll back to stable or op-post build, all games work fine.
Does your device use legacy rom? Updated or old drivers?

This started to happen to me as well and i'm using legacy rom. It started a couple of weeks ago. I would usually download the latest version from the nightly builds, but then all of them are crashing. I tried latest version from play store (1.5.4) and it's working just fine. I thought that this could be happening because the nightly builds were using vulkan instead of opengl.

Thanks for your reply, tiagao.
I've created github issue regarding this problem:
https://github.com/hrydgard/ppsspp/issues/10451
Meanwhile I'll try legacyrom with new mali drivers and stock rom.

Strange, I used a build from last week or so and worked fine. I suppose it is 1.5.4 something.... Maybe it's an issue with very recent builds. I suppose PPSSPP people will fix it. Though for me in current XD 1.4.0 version is better, just before they removed multithread. Newest ones seem to be more focused on vulkan.

That's great. I hope they can fix it. Give us a feedback when you try the new mali drivers. Thanks.

Have you tried enabling or dsiabling some video options? Maybe there is an option that is making it to work bad. I still have my brother device with me. I will try latest build tonight to see if I can find some issue,

Same crash on Legacy Rom 1.8 with new MALI drivers.

Let's hope that Henrik can fix it then. You provided the log and they are aware of that.

Sound like an issue with compiler seeing the log. Maybe an issue with the compiler for pre Android 5 devices. They will fix it soon for sure. I don't think it's GPU related, or I hopw it isn't , because mali drivers are close source and there are no new ones for kitkat.

Good news, i just tried the latest nightly build (v1.5.4-653-g0ed3deabe) and it's working again. Even better i tried megaman x maverick hunter and it ran at steady 60fps for the whole stage. This one would drop frames some times.
