I want this bug squashed too.

Regardless if it gets squashed or not you guys should make it a habit of backing up. Install TWRP and every time you make significant changes to your xd make sure and update your backup. This will stop you from suffering with the bug and also may help narrow the problem down to an app or 2.

Hi PsyOps.

You are perfectly right of course.  ???
although not sure at this point the issue is due to an installed app (what I won't call a 'significant change' anyway  ;)  ).
Or maybe an app charging itself at startup and preventing the home/recent buttons + USB working as expected ?
why not, but I really don't have "exotic" app, the usual ones + emus

crappy issue. :(

maybe a kind of "interference" at starting the services ? Is it something only occuring with Legacy, or also with Stock Rom ? Note that I won't come back to stock rom anyway...  :P

Had anyone tried to reinstall the original rom. Im thinking of selling mine, but I don't want to sell if this bug is persistent. If reinstalling the original rom fixes it that might be an option.

And on second note, where can I find the stock rom? I figure you flash it the same way you do legacy rom.

I  never had that bug, so If I cannot replicate I cannot fix it, Log proivided don't include any info that is relevant either.

If anyone wants to try, can take a look at the kernel.

I am done with development for android devices, so anyone is free to continue, but buttons and joystick arte the same in sotck and my rom, basically because they used my config.....

About stock ro, maybe at www.gpd.hk there is some version.

Hey all.
Just a quick update that my issue is no longer there.
Although I don't use my device as often as I used to, it's behaving normal. I have neither flashed or removed any apps since then. It just stopped happening.
I have not disassembled my device so I cannot confirm a bad flex connection that I suspect.

At this point it's just a mystery. Hard to know if this is tied in with Legacy, root, apps, or whatever else. The only thing I could say is that personally I do not think this is hardware related.

This bug has an edge on us. If you look it up it seems that many android devices get this bug, so I doubt its limited to just legacy rom. I am guessing that it is more on the fact that we use KitKat. The other problem you have is that even though you may not think anything has changed you could have had 10+ apps update in the background 20 diff times. So unless you are without wifi or are positive that you disabled auto update there is no way to know if anything has truly changed.

So it just goes back to some of my advice for GPD XD's in general:
Use TWRP ( I couldn't see having an xd and not using twrp)
The first thing to do when you first log into Playstore, shut auto update off! ( some updates to supersu can even brick xd )
Never put the xd in your back pocket if you are a fatty McFatty. The xd has like a 200lb weight limit.

;D ;D ;D Psyops, you killed me with the last one.

The only way to avoid this bug, for me, is avoiding to switch off or to restart the xd... so charging it when reaching 10% left energy. Probably not such a good idea to preserve battery life I know...  ???

Shame that this never got solved as this glitch still plagues many GPD my own including.

I'll add my two cents here for people still hoping for a fix.
1. It's definitely a software issue, the recent and home buttons are still responsive, as they still prevent gpd going into sleep mode when pressed, also if you press and hold the recent button on the main screen it will activate the menu to switch widgets and wallpapers.

2. A quick fix for this is a hard reset, turn on your gpd, wait for it to load up, when it's done press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds, or until your gpd shuts off, turn it back on and it should work fine, this method works for me.
