GPD XD Wiggly Screen
« on: August 28, 2017, 08:02:46 pm »
i don't know if anyone else here has this issue or not but any way...

i haven't had my GPD XD for even close to a year yet and when i have my screen
tilted at a certain angle or have it open all the way i've noticed that it is a
tad bit loose and it wiggles a bit it's not as stiff as it used to be when i first
had it im not sure if this is an issue or if it's just a normal thing from opening
it alot over time also when it's closed it's a bit loose as well and IF it is an
issue is there a way i could fix it to kind of stiffen it up again or would i
have to possibly take it apart?

also with this issue im having i think it's also effecting the screen itself
to not work most of the time for android games and when i try to key map
buttons to the screen i have NEVER dropped it once since i've bought it
and have not been rough with it

the screen ITSELF like the part you close onto the gamepad the hinges
are making the screen loose

Oh, i see... then you would have to have a repair shop fix it OR simply self-correct it yourself.

Apologies for the hinge... I can only imagine the inconvenience.... best of luck to you.

i doubt i could even take it to a repair shop cuz there are NO video game console repair shops
where i live and even if there was i doubt they'd know a single thing about the GPD XD
and how exactly would i even self correct it myself? how would i go about doing that?
yes it is a HUGE inconvience and quite the piss off when it screws up the key mapping
and interferes with the screen working properly at a certain angle

Best advice then would be to just buy another one.

up either i just wanna know if theres another way to fix it before i do anything TOO drastic

When did you get it? Maybe you could get it replaced if you just got it?

Oh no! That's right! omg I am all caught up on trying to make this rom and forgot! Oh man you should see if you can return it. Make sure you post who sold it to you as well. Maybe have ppl avoid buying from that seller. I hate that this happened to you because it is leaving a bad taste in your mouth for gpd!Just try to remember it's not GPD, its just bad luck and maybe that seller.

Maybe post a video. We can get a better Idea of what is going on.

sux man.

Greetings that is completely neutral
Mine is the same and have been like for a few Months now

Its just the usual thing that happens to hinges when being used for a while

I dont know about the keymapper thing though

But then again I only use mine for PS1 emulation and I can configure it in the emulator itself

ahhh ok i figured so i just wasn't too sure if anyone else has the same issue
as i do

and the whole screen/keymapping issue thats involved i've just
decided to turn my GPD XD into an emulator console with the
acception of a few Google Play store games that actually work
and respond to the keymapping on the screen

like i've mentioned above it's just such an annoyance and inconvience
i just want it to be at least a bit stiff even when it's closed it's a tiny
bit loose as well

The main problem is that you won't be able so easily to find someone who will actually look into your XD, specially these stores that only supports official brands, they won't even look at it. My advice would be to take your XD into these informal repair stores, specially those that works with tablets, smartphones and notebooks. Considering that you can find these at your city would be your best chance.

im not looking for someone to PHYSICALLY look at my GPD XD and as i
had mentioned earlier NO smartphone repair shops in my city would
even know about the XD nor would they know a single damn thing
about it i am ONLY looking for a possible and simple quick fix which
i HIGHLY doubt ill get an answer for because there probably isn't a "quick fix"

hey bud I don't think anyone is trying to frustrate you just trying to find a way for you to find a solution. I looked around for a solution myselft. The only thing that I can think of is...

https://youtu.be/h62r7N2FbRc at 15:00 of the video you get to look at the hinge really good. From what I can see there is a nut there on the one side of the hinge. I would say maybe take off the top and try to tighten it.

If this is something you are willing to try, let me know before you attempt it and I will try it myself. Maybe I can record it and make a small guide for anyone that needs it. The good thing is that out of all the things to take apart, the top seems like the easiest to take off. ( at least imo from watching video ).

to my solution and thanks bro ill take a look at that video and alright cuz i'd
wanna attempt to MAYBE take it apart but i wouldn't wanna screw anything else
up in the process but ill probably check out the video before i do anything too drastic

Yeh just out of curiosity I may do it myself. I don't like giving advice to something I haven't done myself.
