It's... definitely pretty confusing. Once you have it set up though, it's not so bad.

Essentially your first step is to download the cores you want. There are generally multiple cores available per system. Then when you load Content (e.g. your rom), you select which core to boot with.

ePSXe has a far better interface and lots of options. I do find that some games just run better using Retroarch's rearmed core, and it's nice to have a choice between emulators to get the best experience.

Stick with what you like though! You generally can't go wrong with ePSXe, even if some games may run a little better in Retroarch.

Which settings (graphics) do you use in ePSXe?

I generally run default settings and adjust for speed on the fly if a game isn't running well. If it the game can handle it, I also use 2X resolution.

I get some artifacts in games like Mega Man X4 and THPS using ePSXe. Retroarch Rearmed core can run those quite nicely.

I wanted to say that finally I managed to use epsxe without sound fx latency adter some settings, im happy ^^ . Now using libretopengl 16.so , I have some glitch : in Castlevania SOTN , some parts of the game are transparent like candles and some walls. In Wipeout 3 for exemple, the brithtness fall dark at some special moment ( when FX appears ) .... if someone have the solution. Thanks! Ps: I prefer use real emulator than retroarch cuz I prefer the design and simplicity.

For 2d games, probably using just hardware mode without openGL is better. Or Retroarch core.

When I use Hardware + Internal Resolution x2 and Sound Latency Normal the FPS Counter says sometimes 48, 49 or 50/50 fps but I still think it lags more than without using x2 Resolution?
Is that normal?
Generally says the FPS Counter 49/50fps in about 95% of playtime even in x1 Resolution...

If the game is PAL is normal that shows 50/50. With internal resolution 2x should be slower than 1x resolution (some games wil lag at 2x resloution, some others don't). at 1x resolution all games should be full speed.

No they aren't... :(
Most of the times the counter displays 49/50 and switches to 50/50 a few seconds later again 49/50

That's normal. Not all time 50 Hz games are 50fps. Same with NTSC which can show 59/60 because NTSC output is 59.94 Hz and not 60hz as people tend to think. If you notice the game run fine I don't see the problem. Fps measurements are not always 100 percent accurate. At 1x resolution all games should run fullspeed without issues, because even in older android Machines epsxe is fullspeed.

Yes , at resolution X1 , all games run at full speed like the original.

Even on the real machine (PSX) some games experiences fps issues. I'm playing Soul Reaver (a very demanding 3D game) with EPSXE at 1x resolution. On some areas the game runs very smooth and on some others it lags a lot, even if the fps counter shows 50/50 (I'm playing a PAL version). Only when there's a lot of effects on the cutscenes the counter drops to 30/50 and sometimes 20/50. The only problem that it's a bit annoying is that on 1x resolution some polygons of the walls are shown wrong, but on 2x or opengl rendering it's all fine.

I remember playing Apocalypse (a 3D action shooter) on my real PS1, and the gamespeed dropped  under 20 fps many times, when the gameplay was intensive with lots of bullets and enemies on screen. It happens on my GPD with epsxe too,  so if some games lagging, its not always an emulation problem, imo.

sure !
Epsxe also emulate the framedrops caused by the lack of power of the PS1 with some powerful games.

Epsxe is more accurate. But both should be fine.

I agree that Epsxe is a phenomenal emulator app for Android. It has a vast amount of customization ability along with great emulation overall for ps1 games.
