OpenGL depending on the game. Press men?, select toglleglconfig and change according to the game. Then just save and settings for that Game are stored. For controls there is nothing special to do. If you use device in ps3 mode (within the app gamepad that Comes with the device) controls are autodetect and work out of the box. Or under input settings you can change them as you want.

Ok I'm using the PS3 Mode.
But how can I go into the ePSXe Menu when I'm ingame? (Save State, Load State, Settings,...)?

Ahhh Thank you! ;)
And one more dumb question: how do I setup Retroarch?

With gamepad in ps3 mode controls are autodetected. After that, just Download the cores you want, and load Core and content and that's the basic setup.

Is there a chance to get a better graphics without graphical issues (like using opengl)?
When I want to play Spyro (1) and use OpenGL, the yellow blinking "font" isn't visible in the Menu so you don't know what to choose...  (Language, Memory Card,...)

You can try with fxaa filter or 2x resolutioon Mode, though 2x resolution mode IS quite demanding. I never tried spyros, but perhaps playing with diferent OpenGL options you can get a better result. But it's a bit tricky to configure and varies from some Game to another.
Epsxe Page explain all? options:

Pcsx-rearmed from retroarch with a shader like hq2x IS also nice. To be honest evento with software modes psx games look good to me in a 5 inch screen.

Which Settings do you usually use in ePSXe with Opengl?
I also don't know how to configurate the Controller with the D-Pad? I can't assign anydirection from the Right-D Pad...

Select digital only for the pad type PSX input to use the dpad.

The GPD Q9 PSV is also a good choice for playing ps1. I never experienced any gliches, latency or lags while playing. I use stock rom and standard epsxe settings, the PSV sticks are just perfect, the 7 inch screen is big enough.

I am currently playing with Crash bandicoot 2, 3, Ridge Racer Type 4, Soul Blade, but no slowdown or any problem.

Last but not least, the Q9 is much cheaper than the XD

Thank you, but I already bought the XD  ;)
When I'm using internal Resolution x2 the games looks fantastic! But I have poor framerate on many games...
Is that normal?
Is there anything I can do to get 60fps in x2 Resolution mode?

there is an option to enable 2 and 4 threads to speed it up a little bit, but 2x resolution is very demanding. Some games tun perfect, other runs slow (even in my shield TV is that way which is more powerful)

What is the best setting for x1 Resolution? I don't understand the many options to choose from...
Retroarch isn't a option for me, because i don't want to load everytime i start a core/content...

I use opengl normally, but for x1 resolution i suppose you can try some shader like fxaa or just the standard filter of hardware mode.
In retroarch you can scan directories, if you scan tour psx isos directories it will create a playlist, or just with a frontend like gamesome or nostalgia.

And how can I use the better graphics in Retroarch? I only find Shaders and the FXAA looks terrible...

I use hq2x shader in retroarch and is fine for me. in a 5 inch screen psx games look good.
There is also FPSe emulator which has openGL and high resolution modes, but it's been a long time since I used it.

What is the difference when hq2x enabled? Better resolution? I can't see any difference at all (i don't know if they are enabled because retroarch crashes many times if i want to go to the shaders menu)

It looks better, it's filter to smooth pixels a little bit. It's more noticeable in 2d games though. I don't know why retroarch crashes for you, I have never had a single Crash on retroarch.

I ran into some issues with Retroarch crashing after messing with the setting a bit and updating to the nightlies.

To get it working again, I removed Retroarch files, including configs, and reinstalled the latest nightly APK: https://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/android/

Works like a charm now. I used to use ePSXe, though I've found that games tend to run extremely well in the pcsx_rearmed core through Retroarch. Now I find myself only using ePSXe for games that can handle the higher resolution (such as CTR, which runs amazingly well in ePSXe).

I don't get get the Interface from Retroarch. It is so confusing and way to difficult to handle. ePSXe is much easier imo...
