It seems like there may be a problem installing MagiskManager if you have your MicroSD card formatted to be used as internal memory. It doesnt seem to break anything, it just refuses to install properly.

So if you have your MicroSD card used as internal memory, I would suggest you not trying this method yet until I figure this out.

Do you recommend to root it? What can I gain from it these days?
I don't normally root my devices anymore.

In short I like to do what i want with my own device with no restrictions. I mod my device to be lightweight most times and remove a bunch of stuff, but i also like modding it with my own made bootanimations and stuff.

Following this guide.. Had some problems with the drivers but managed to disable driver signatures despite HPs best efforts.

When u hold down vol+ to boot the XD+ it goes into a selection screen for recovery or normal boot.

If I chose an option it says "no command".
Trying to flash doesn't download to the device.

Any ideas?

I don't believe you boot the device. I think you're supposed to hold down the volume button and then just connect by means of the usb cable. Anyway even that didn't work for me. I saw the comments at the bottom of the vid about hitting download and then simply connecting with the cable and that did work for me.

But leave the device powered off.

 I didn't try to boot with power button.
I was getting this menu by oing the volume button while connecting

In the end I just installed Magidisk and it rooted it somehow.

Oh just tried your comment about just downloading and then connecting - this worked :)
