GPD XD PLUS Dolphin Vulcan.

Just wanted to give a heads up. With the new firmware update for GPD XD Plus or with the recent Dolphin updates, Vulcan has stopped working and had to revert back to Open Gl.

CleanROM 2.0.2.0. Didint work with older cleanrom or stock. Worked with cleanrom the last 1 or 2 updates.

Maybe been You having such a high standing in the game Device industry you could talk to them at dolphin been I can t get logged in on that site.

From Black Seraph, Good to know... So it's another one of those "We don't care about supporting Android but rather want to use the newest bleeding edge Vulkan drivers." kind of deal. Sounds like something the Dolphin developers would do.

If we want Vulkan we have to revert back to  dolphin version 5.0-9456.

Black-Seraph released a more current "Fixed" version of dolphin for us. You will have to uninstall whatever version of dolphin You are using rigth now to install this. But Vulcan does work for this. I do not know if he will make more fixed future version but I will ask him.

Will You be able to make future "Fixed versions of Dolphin for us when they update them more? Also, do you know with what You found if they will be fixing that problem with dolphin on the home page.

Don't worry about it too much. I'm a good chump and if someone really needed a new build or a big new feature drops I'll just rebuild it real quick.

As for the Dolphin developers fixing it themselves...
It's up to them.

I can't really speak on their behalves.

Zelda: Wind Waker running 25-30fps. Near full-speed on XD+

I will try to put some more videos up by tonight of other GC games running off of Dolphin.

Recommended settings for making Dolphin on android work for the GPD XD+:

- Internal storage/dolphin-emu/Config--> Dolphin.ini file
- EMULATION SPEED: 1.00000000
- FRAMESKIP: 0x00000000
- OVERCLOCK: 0.9
- SYNCGPUOVERCLOCK: 3.00000000

You can enter the above settings through any type of file explorer app from the google play store such as ES FILE EXPLORER or CX FILE EXPLORER, etc. Also, utilize the OPENGL video renderer instead of Vulkan. Although XD+ has the capability of running Vulkan, this video renderer has not completely been optimized to run for Android devices off of Dolphin.


Recommended Dolphin emulator build used:  5.0-4525


Reason for this build?


Answer:  Many of the more recent Android builds available off of the dolphin emulator website utilize an extremely heavy amount of resources from the O.S. & video renderer(s) that aren't fully utilized by earlier builds... resulting in slower fps. Earlier builds use less resources, resulting in the higher framerates. Also, the newer builds seem to prevent many games from even loading on Android no matter which settings/preferences are selected prior to running any game. Again, it is recommended to use that build above for many, if not all, games for Gamecube emulation. Enjoy!

Oh, also... tip:  try to limit dolphin/GC gaming to about an hour or so. The unit really gets hot after this length of gaming. If you continue past the hour or so mark, your unit may overheat. Just wanted to inform everyone about this before starting to play gamecube games, etc.
