Title: GPD XD Legacy back to stock
Post by: galaxyknight on January 21, 2020, 06:52:06 am
Hi there.

I have my GPD XD 1. gen. now for years. Quit good.
Mostly i play Amiga Games. For others i have my beloved GPI Case.
So i now updated to Legacy rom and works well.
But!
The UAE4ARM is not working right at all.
I need this Emu because im using a hardfile to operate workbench and HDF images.
Therefore i have to setup CPU e.g. and this is now possible with UAE4ALL.
But as soon as i want to save my config file in UAE4ARM it will stop.
Also installing new keyboard and setting up config file is not successful.

Question:
So i want to go back to stock to check it is a problem of the emulator or the firmware.
If i want to roll back to stock. Same procedure as for Legacy rom?

Flash the .img back or do i have to consider anything (kernel etc)
I do not want to brick my device..
Thx for reading and help so far.  ;)

LegacyROM supports the same emulators than stock. I used uea4ARM without issues at all when I had an XD.
Anyway, if you want to go back to stock just flash stock firmware in your PC using RKBAtchTool

Skelton. Many thx.
I know. But on stock i do not have any issues.
I will give it a try and report here what was the result.

##edit
SO. You are right. Also with stock. UAE4ARM stops as saving config file. Something with the keyboard maybe?
Strange think. Bevore it was working perfectly. Does not know on what FW i was before.?

##edit2
I found out what cause the error. The new version.
If im going to old 1.0.0.19 everything works perfectly also the keyboard.
So its an version thing. Not so nice. But good to know.

#edit3
So. Installed a few applications. (Horizon case and jump runs)
Most of them are lagging. Very often in game.
I used the 1.6 GHz version. Nothing more installed!

Then after i went back to original stock rom and deleting all the rubbish everything here works great.
No freezes, no lags at all.
So im not happy at all with the legacy rom. For i did not work properly.

Hi skelton and galaxyknight,

I do not want to derail the thread but while we are on subject of amiga which was an awesome gaming system, I am looking for a powerful and affordable gaming handheld device which emulates the computer at fullspeed to play some of its great games.  I'm looking into the GPD XD plus which seems like an ideal device with its price, size and power. Would you guys recommend it for flawless amiga emulation?

I haven't used XD+ too much, because i only had a proto qnd never tried. I think should work quite ok with uaearm of p-uae on retroarch.
Galaxynight, without a log i cannot see why those games you mentioned worked bad for you, because i never had issues with those games on legacy. But if you are not Happy, just use stock. As simple as that.

HI eltehero

I have the GPD XD 1. gen. And UAE4ARM works great.
Amiga emulation works great. All games running full speed.
Also hardfile with HDF support is great and working perfect.
