Author Topic: GPD XD - Green light always on, screen completely black, unit won't turn off  (Read 167 times)

Hi all, I went back to my GPD XD recently (after cheating on it with the Win for a good few months) and for some reason I just can't get it to boot anymore.  As soon as I charge it, the green light comes on but the unit itself won't boot or allow me to turn it off (the green light is stuck).
Any ideas?

Try connecting it to HDMI, if you get signal in your TV then it's the screen. If not, maybe something else.

I had this exact same thing happen to me as well. Unfortunately I had no luck even after trying to reinstall the firmware using the rockchip tools, the device was recognized by the tool, but only shows up blue with 1-1-1 in the tool not Green with 1-2 like it's supposed to. When I try to update I get an error stating "prepare idb start fail". I couldn't even boot into recovery, I just got a green light every time I pressed the power button.

I contacted willgoo and they were absolutely no help and told me the device was out of warranty (at the time I only had it for about 5 months)

I ended up contacting gpd directly and emailing back and forth a few times before they recommended me sending the device back to China for repair. I had to pay for shipping to China but they paid to send it back and the repair was free. I was scared to send it off and never see it again, but a few weeks later they said the repair was complete and shipped it back!

Nope nothing from the HDMI... I don't think the device is actually on, it just seems to be stuck in some sort of standby state.

That might be my only hope then... at least GPD sound like a pretty decent company.  Thanks!

Olonas

The green light is constantly on only when the hinge is closed. Maybe the switch in the hinge doesn't see that's it's open.

How long have you had XD?

Try maybe : https://youtu.be/axlw8SEdzd0
Go to the part : Time 0:42   - you dont have to load firmware, just do the part where you connect gpd
The part where you connect usb: Time 0:42

Its flash mode or something. You start rkbatchtool , connect usb to pc, press and hold vol+, then connect the usb to your gpdxd.

If you get a green box you may be able to restore. ( time 1:20 on video )

Take a magnet and move it around the the system where the buttons are. Could be it's stuck in sleep mode.
