I take it this is how the device will look like when released, that there won't be any further modifications to the hardware?

The analogs shouldn't touch the screen when closed.
See the bumper that says GPD? It probably serves to separate to parts so the screen doesn't touch the buttons or the analogs when closed.

The D-pad protrudes more than the sticks. But as has been said, the GPD bumper is probably what will stop that from hitting the screen

I really hope there will not be any more delays with how cool this looks... Tough my q9 definitely makes the waiting more bearable :-) 

And that is what that bumper is for! But wont it leave a small opening then between the two parts of the device even when it closed?

^Yes, it's probably going to be similar to the second edition of the original 3DS where you can see through the closed device when the lid is closed. Don't see why that should be a problem, on the contrary, it's probably going to protect the screen better that way.

Ow no didn't mean it was going to be a problem, just thought of it as a curiosity... I can't wait to get my q9,  i love my q9, and this thing looks like it will be even better... Next stop: functioning warp-travel, transporters, and real-life cute anime catgirls!
