Been really excited for this device and have been search for new images of it. Came across Antutu Benchmark from a Japanese blogger http://nekoz.exblog.jp/21907684

With the Rockchip RK3288 the GPD XD scores 44665 and beats the Tegra 4 score of 36127

Red part is screen only, yellow is the bezel frame.

The screen has a relatively large bezel, the screen appears to be closer to 5.5 or 5.6 inch father than the advertised 5 inch. Would like to know your opinions on the looks of the bezel?

Actually, all of the proportions seem wrong compared to the promo pics.
The analog's pads are smaller, and the L3/R3 buttons seem larger.

The bezel, a term which I'm going to adopt from now on, is ridiculously huge. It's even larger than the bezel of the JXD S5800's screen.
And no. If the screen was 5.5'' it would've been advertised as such - it's just that they've enlarged everything else, and I don't know how's that going to affect ergonomics.

The right part of the hinge seems to be eroded, or broken in some way. That's... discouraging.

Thanks for the pics, kryptik. I'm hoping for more tests, photos and videos because this evokes the same doubts I've had beforehand.

The device looks like it has been disassembled at least once. Look at the screw holes around the screen. The buttons are slightly more recessed as well with leads me to believe the bottom has been opened at well.

The plastics are more of a matte than other pictures which makes me think it might be a prototype than a production unit. They advertise a semigloss in things I've read/seen.

A antutu score can't be trusted because it takes into account lots of things and tries to produce a score based off those rankings. Yes one could say generally higher is generally better though. It could however make up a bunch of it's score off faster ram, or low nand read/write speeds. I do think the GPU being GLES 3.0 vs the shield's GLES 2.0 would also effect things a fair bit depending on the test. I'm not sure if the CPU vs CPU is better, but I am thinking it's within the same class of processor which is good. A good deal more powerful than the RK3188 A9 either way, and that seemed fine to me for emulators and games.

That dpad's got me a bit concerned. The one in the JXD devices as of late were pretty bad, spongy mushy etc and it looks very similar. I hope they did that right. Also I am a bit concerned about the heat generated by the 3288. The Q9 reviews say it can build up quite a bit of heat. Might have to look at some after market head shield/spreaders.

Overall it looks quite interesting, enough to get me to preorder one. Even if enough to tell them with my wallet "this is what people want, make more things like this" (but with a keyboard as well next time)

If the final retail version ends up looking exactly like this then it'd be very disappointing due to the shitty overall look of it. You get what you paid for, I guess

I think perspective of the renderings have a lot to do with the distortion of the devices proportions. Images above they do seem quite small in comparison to the recessed cavity they are placed in. Probably indicates they have a lot of travel in all directions.

Didn't notice the hinge at first but it's safe to say this is a pre-production model and hopefully the manufacturer is still working on improving the tooling for injection molded parts.

I'm worried about the hinge mechanism as they wouldn't have put as much budget in the design to test the longevity of it compared to Nintendo for example.

I think it looks super rad..Matte black finish is very attractive and overall the system looks sturdy as hell. It totes looks pocketable as well. Im not gonna lie...been waiting for thos exact same aesthetic since the GBA ended its reign.

That antutu result is cheated. Latest RK3288 SDK includes a cheat to increase scores. Antutu X is the benchmark to use. RK3288 are more around 35-37000 points.

Looks nice,but loook at willgoo real photos http://www.willgoo.com/images/GPD-XD-handheld-black-3.jpg you can clearly see it has more depth to the analogue sticks then seen here. Its a matter of perspective - when seen from the side them seem flat because they are recessed in the device. From above they become 2d circles. If you look at the photos from willgoo this jappensmas well, but you can clearly see theyre ~vita size on the photos with the optimal viewing angles for seeing the analogs

Also, indeed buttons are profoundly deeper in devic, probably opened indeed, off coure analog joysticks might thus have also been made to sfick out less on this particular device..

sale ver is will fix for all problem.

now, they are choose the colour of shell. may be is blue and black.
red is not sale. red black XD not sale too.

So the top cover will definitely be high gloss finish (black, red or blue) and the rest of the body is matte black?

TRANSLATION: The first prototype version of the GPD XD is shipped, and it's colored red. That version is not for sale and that color is unavailable for the production line.
The final product will be available in either blue or black, with a limited edition red/black GPD XD which is currently not for sale.
The prototype has some issues, but they won't be present in the final version (I'm assuming the hinge, because that's the only one we've discussed here and no one would say it out of the blue).
The final product will have the same screen.

Editor's note: wait for the God damn willgoo test. We're literally speculating on nothing and GPD isn't offering any useful info.
