S7300 is a bit thinner I think, though not sure, because I don't have a s7300 anynore, though q88 is much more ergonomic in my opinion.
Ah okay, thanks

why destroy a perfectly good control set that the gpd g7 had, sometimes it seems that Chinese manufacturers are so out of touch with the market. The G7 had excellent analogs which everybody loved, yet they removed them. Do they ever read forums or take feedback? because this simply breaks what could have otherwise been a great gaming device. sigh.
Probably for portability. G7 has more of a hand grip/controller style, but Q88/S has more of a tablet form factor. The nubs are not as good but the sticks would add a lot of depth to the size. Makes it much harder to find a case that fits. It's bad enough if it's thicker than the S7300 as Skelton says. Also since this is a budget model, maybe the nubs are just cheaper.

i think some guys figure this Q88+ is a evolution of G7, and this is an error.

Q88 is one line of products, G7 is another.

as Chex mention, G7 have better sticks/controls, but is less portable/transportable. Q88 have poor sticks (plain nubs), but is easiest to transport because you can carry on any backpack, bag, etc. without worry about broke their sticks.

these two are distinct concepts for distincts usages.

Personally, i found a good idea on releasing these distinct kind of devices/product lines, because this is a real option for distinct users.

is not the way that JXD did until now, that always release some device, and then release their evolution. there is no real options.

JXD lineup:
JXDS7100->S7300->S7800 is the evolution of the original device.

GPD lineup
GPD-Q88->Q88+
GPD-G7->G7+ (announced)

these are two lines of products in the same segment (7" gaming devices).

My guess is that it won't be release, unless until newer SoC are released. But it's just a guess.

Makes sense.

You mean the 8 core chip? Do you think it will improve some of the more sluggish games? I'm having a great time playing a psp game that runs nearly perfect already. I can mention also space gun and alien 3 (mame shooters) than run at about 90%. Or Revenge of Death Adder  ::)

Could they pull the remainder of these games to better performance?  :)

The RK32XX is quad core Coretx A17, which is probably what they will use. But until some tabs with this SoC appear, difficult to know how they perform.
Revenge of death adder can be played pretty good in g5a using manual frameskip 2.

I will post my impressions here as soon as I receive the package (I currently have a JXD s5110b and a Nexus 5 for comparisons)

Most probably, but I cannot give a release date. I am in the middle of filming a TV documentary, so very busy at the moment.

Any case, stock firmware is fine. You can use titanium backup to debloat it.

I am keen to buy one of these (my yinlips died a while back with power issues…) and went so far as getting to the checkout with Wilgoo, only to find they don’t accept credit cards. If anyone knows of a store that sell these and take credit card, I would love to know.

Sad me :(

Hi Skelton!

I've been looking for a device to replace my JXD S5110b a long time.
I've never liked the GDP G5A and G7 design, instead I really liked the JXD 7800b design.

But this device was so problematic at the beggining, that I gave up on it.

Can you answer some questions about the Q88S? For me an owner of s5110b this is somewaht important! :D

- Does this device has the infamous "Wake up Bug" ?
- Is it a true quad-core? They are all clocked to 1,4 ghz correct?
- The analog sticks are independent from the d-pad?
- Does it have the "home" and "back" button? I really don't like the navigation bar on my s5110b

Thanks for all your work. As soon your firmware comes out, I'm buying this device.
The hardware must go to the limit !

- Does this device has the infamous "Wake up Bug" ? - Nope, that's an amlogic thing
- Is it a true quad-core? They are all clocked to 1,4 ghz correct? - Yes, it's a RK3188T quad core, don't expect a huge difference in emus over amlogic mx though.
- The analog sticks are independent from the d-pad? - Yes, though analogs are not very good honestly, specially in comparison to g5a analogs
- Does it have the "home" and "back" button? I really don't like the navigation bar on my s5110b - unfortunately no home or back buttons.

Seeing you like 5110b, have you considered the GPD-g58? I say it because g58 is very similar to 5110b but q88S is a 7 inch device, much bigger and not as confortable as a 5 inch device (for me at least).
JXD 5800 can be also a choice I guess now that overlapping issue seems to be solved.
I know that people don't like g5a design seeing at the photos, but it's still my favourite android device for gaming.

The custom rom for q88S won't be soon, I am in the middle of other things at the moment and Tincore has not gotten a sample yet (GPD, you know what you need to do XD). Though in any case stock rom is pretty fine, just uninstalling some bloatware and changing horrible default launcher is fine.
