GPD G7 vs GPD G5A vs Much i5s?
« on: January 17, 2014, 03:56:23 pm »
Hi, guys!

I am having a little difficulty in choosing between these three devices for using the Reicast Dreamcast emulator on the go.

The three options I am looking at are:

GPD G7
GPD G5A
Much i5s

I won't be using the phone feature on the Much i5s, just looking for the best device that feels great to use, has the best user experience... as a gaming device.  I will primarily be using Reicast, so I was worried about the Much i5s because of the A7 chips as opposed to the required A9's as per Reicast's minimum requirements...

If any of you could chime in on which if these 3 devices I should get based on your experience with playability and overall user experience, it would be appreciated!  ;)

The most important thing in my opinion for emulation is screen set to 60 hz, and proper joystick driver.  As far as I know, GPD follow this criteria, the imuch device doesn't. Anyway, wait for a few days or couple of weeks and wait for some opinions about all these new devices before making a decision.

G5A is portable will do dreamcast emulation well. ..poor battery life (maybe battery can be modded)
G7 is not portable in the same way, its light and broader with slight bump in resolution good pc gamestreaming... has a large battery capacity

Much i5s, well its an expensive and powerfull device, but I would not recommend it unless you want to play hardcore android games and it lacks buttons R2/L2..which is bad when it comes to emulation and some games.

shield is not portable or usable for long periods of time, its a nightmare holding that thing to play games for more than 30 mins for me. Its comfy on a bed, still its just not ergonomically friendly to use for emulators, the thick bezels make the screen seem tiny.
