Games that Work with the G5A/G7 Controls?
« on: March 03, 2014, 05:01:22 am »
What games have you guys come across that just work with the GPD's controls without having to use a keymapper? I haven't tried too many since I'm waiting for a 64gb card to arrive so my space is limited.

So far these seem to work,

Sine Mora
Death Rally - hesitates when shooting
Riptide 1&2
Max Payne
Crazy Taxi
R-Type 1&2
Neon Shadow - uses #1 button to fire instead of trigger
Hyperwave
Expendable Rearmed
Aces of the Luftwaffe
Overkill:Space Shooter - Controls hesitate
Darkdawn Encounters

Fist of Awsome - verified by Drem
Fright Fight - verified by Drem
Asphalt 8 - verified by skelton
Gt Racing 2 - verified by skelton
Jet Set Radio - verified by skelton
Dead Effect - verified by skelton
Sonic 4 episode II - verified by enodr
Shadowgun - verified by enodr
Virtua Tennis Challenge - verified by enodr

I may name Fist of Awesome and Fright Fight from most recent Android games that I've tested. You also may check my similar list of compatible/controls compatible games for JXD S7800b, I guess that most of them will recognize G5A controls as well:

I plan to update this list on the weekend. I also thought about starting similar list for G5A/G7...

Your right, most of those will most likely work as well. I'll try some that aren't on that list

Don't think I'm bragging about my gaming skills, but when I've installed Fright Fight (Smash Bros meet Halloween type of game) my first and last (to date) online match with skilled player (at least, his character was not 1 level like mine) resulted in my win - I've beated him quite easily. As usual for online duels, when round was almost done he decided to give up and flee.
I can see clearly the superiority of Android gaming devices with physical controls over traditional smartphones/tablets in gaming :D.

Dead Effect seems to work with gamepads now. At least it's detected and can be configured. Tested on G7 but I assume that game will detect any joystick driver.

Do any of the racing games work properly with the controls, like a traditional racing game? What I mean is no auto-accelerate and have analog steering so they control like a proper console game rather than an Android one.

Think I tried one of the Asphalt ones ages ago and a NFS but they were auto-accelerate and just digital steering and I don't like that.

I prefer modern 3D arcadey ones like Asphalt or NFS, basically the closest I can get to Burnout on the go the better!

Asphalt 8 might work, it works with the Shield. That's one I have to try when I get my SD card.

Had a quick blast on Asphalt 8 in my lunch hour, works brilliantly so thanks guys.

Do the previous Asphalt games work with the controls in a similar way?

I think that Asphalt 7 doesn't support gamepads, but not sure. Perhaps with Mode M in Tincore. I will try it.

Hi,

Just got my G5A. You can add "Sonic 4 episode II" to the list.

Found an interesting game on the Play Store called "Darkdawn Encounters". It's in beta atm and is $.99 but the price will go up when the campaign is added. Works perfectly with the G5A's controls so if you like tactical space combat I'd highly recommend this one.
