Title: First steps on GPD XD Plus?
Post by: osvalillve on July 16, 2019, 10:51:06 pm
Hello everyone!
First of all, thanks for having me here.

I just bought my GPD XD Plus (Don't have it in my hands though, since it has to travel from China to Mexico) I'm very interested in this so I've been reading and watching a lot of things about it. Sadly because of that now I'm confused.

Some say it's the best handled emulator, other say it's not. Some say it can run Dolphin and PPSSPP at 30 fps, other say it can't.

I'd be very happy playing Android games and streaming PC games, the only demanding game I'd be interested to emulate would be God of War or maybe Smash Bros. So don't know what should I do with my XD+ when it arrives. I have read that installing a Clean ROM is useful, I've also read about unlocking the CPU to 1.8 GHZ but I don't know if these are necesary in order to have a good experience whit GPD XD+. Also, I've to say I'm not very used to install ROMs, I did it once to and old cellphone but that's it. I'm good following tutorials though, and even read you have a noob guide.

Also I think I might buy a 64 GB SD card. Some say you can use a SD as internal memory, but again not sure if 32 GB internal memory is not enough.

What do you recommend to do with a new XD+? What other recommendations would you have to a new XD user?

Thanks for reading.

PD: Sorry I'f my English's bad. I'm Mexican. n.n'

It can run Dolphin for Android... it can also run PPSSPP very well w/Vulkan video renderer.

Here are some examples:

CleanROM is easy to install. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

64gb microSD is large enough... I agree, it is definitely sufficient.

I both have XD & XD+

I think XD+ is a good update for XD because of the 64bit android run on the 64bit CPU.

Can check if cleanrom by black seraph has root when installed? Looking at ways to change the dpi, throttle CPU etc.

By default no, but you can easily flash Magix via custom recovery menu, as for throttling the CPU there is an issue with that, no matter the setting or app used the CPU will always reset to it's maximum default value 2,1GHZ, currently there is no fix for this.

Ohh. Nice. Let me take a look at the custom recovery menu. Apart from that which magisk version is compatible to latest cleanrom? Just in case I need to root via twrp

Sorry I meant TWRP i forgot that's what it is called, you get TWRP with CleanRom, then you can flash Magix with TWRP to get root access.
