First hello! and noob question about TWRP & data backup
« on: December 31, 2018, 12:27:51 pm »
Hi community!

I?m new to the GPD XD Plus (will receive it next week) and reading here for a while. Thanks for all the great information so far!
I have one specific question about TWRP and apps/app data. I read a lot but I think I miss one piece of information to fully understand it: First thing I will do with the new device is flashing the awesome CleanROM. Than I will setup everything for gaming. (Emulator apps and stuff)
Now my question: When I want to update to a new CleanROM version, how can I save/restore all my emulator apps and settings? As far as I understand I will make a full backup via TWRP, wipe the system and install the new ROM version. But what about my emulators and (most important) all their settings? Is this when I have to use ?Titanium? or other app-backup apps?

Thanks in advance for your help! :-)

This update coming up is pretty big, and although it is highly suggested that you wipe your system before you install, you can perform a dirty update. Just back up your system with twrp before you install update and if nothing else you can always go back to that.

What does ?dirty? update mean? As I get a new device next week I will start right away with the new big clean rom 2.0 so there will nothing need to be backuped.
My question was more looking into the future to understand how I can backup my apps and settings when I?m on 2.0 and want to update e.g. to a upcoming 2.1
