Drastic- DS emulator performance
« on: February 03, 2016, 12:27:08 pm »
Hey everyone. Can anyone elaborate as to how good the Drastic emu is for Android in general? I'm thinking of purchasing the $5.99 version off the google play store.

Thanks!

Basically it's the best available option. Almost completely perfect and totally worth the $5.99 you pay for it. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Awesome, thx. Also, is it possible to use the GPD XD controls to play games that use ONLY the stylus?? For example, Zelda: PHourglass & Zelda: S. Tracks...

Thanks!

For Phantom Hourglass you need to use the touch screen to play it. If you want to use the DPAD there's a patch that if you apply it to rom it will allow you to play it with the DPAD instead. I tried it some months ago, but still the movement seems to be kind of clumsy. I'm not a great fan of these DS zelda games, but if you want to try you could use desmume at your pc:

you can use touch based mapper, but you must get so much patience for getting a full functional mapping.

DraStic have an experimental option for this kind of games (use analog for touch based games, or something like this), but is so experimental.

Drastic DS is awesome.  Best $$$ I have spent on the Google play store!
GPD G5a, JXD S5110b, NDS lite w/ Acekard, Kindle Fire, Samsung Galaxy S4, PS Vita, iPad

Drastic has a time limited demo version on the play store. Try downloading that and seeing how your games run.

Drastic is fantastic for pretty much 95% of DS games available.  The only place where it falls is anything that is rhythm based.  Its virtually impossible to play something like Elite Beat Agents or Rhythm Heaven etc because there is a "slight" lag between sound and video which of course goes unnoticed in most games, but when you are dependent on hitting a target to a beat, you quickly realise its slightly out.

But like others have said, for everything else, Drastic is perfect, and the upscale features are nice also to make DS games look less jaggy, and the XD and Q9 will do this also and still hit 60fps whilst doing so.  Its impressive and well worth the money

I find it hard to play ds on XD, because the split screen makes games too small to play. Ive been using "ds boy" i think.  Would getting drastic make anything better?

i recommand using Drastic emulator, its one of the best emulator for nintendo ds en android,
why ? well, back in 2014 i was a beta tester for Drastic emulator, and i was suprised, it wasn't like ds boy or NDS4Droid, since all thos emulatore use the same developement code. but Drastic was close source code developement from scratch
and with Drastic, if you are playing a Ds game that use one main screen, you can go to setting and view it full screen, or you can use other screen adjustement .
just search for Drastic emulator on youtube and you can see different features of this emulator
you won't regret buying it,.

Thanks. bought it. much better.  I like the full screen mode.  Switching back and forth with the screens is annoying, but of course theres no way around that because nintendo made the system like that.
