Sweet, I'm glad to see this one making it to the market.

Isn't the 1st picture the 5" G5 model?

there will be a 5 inch version (or two really), GPD-G5a and G5. The fisrt picture in fact seems the 5a version. I personally prefer the 5 inchs too. GPD is quite collaborative with developers, which is a good sign too. Let's see how device is.

Brandless, there's potential in this. Would be nice to stamp something like our name or other things  ;D.

Would also be nice to see the device coated with silicone for better grip.

Yes, both the 7 " and 5" will be released. But 7" comes firstly.

Currently, 5" is G5A, 7" is G7.

forgive it.
4.3" is the smaller size you found on some devices, but most probably will dissapear as standard size and the minimum will be 5"

This looks like it could be a great gaming tablet.
Does anyone know if the analog sticks are buttons as well so they'll act like R3 and L3 just like the playstation controllers?

as i know (but we need some confirmation), sticks design are based on "PRO" controllers, this mean, have L3 and R3 buttons on it.

anyway, if you need L3 and R3, you can assign to extra 2 buttons of the 6 buttons panel. ^_^ (of GPD-G7 version)

That would be great if they are based on PRO controllers!
You're right about using the extra 2 buttons on the 6 button panel.
This tablet looks very promising.
I'll wait for some confirmation but thanks for the reply Deen0X.

I have some news about the device. The g7 has l3 and r3 buttons and will be updated to Android 4.4.2 soon. Let's see what happens, but seems good. I hope the g5a is the same.

Both devices, GPD-G5A and GPD-G7 have proper joystick drivers.

and yes, are based on PRO Controllers layout and specs.

6 button layout
2 button triggers (L1 & R1)
2 analog triggers (L2 & R2)
2 analog sticks (with good size)
sticks with buttons (L3 and R3)
D-PAD separated from sticks

buttons for android options (that we can use for other kind of tools, such tincore keymapper options) :D

there is a 5" alternative (GPD-G5A)

but small sizes... only JXDS602 (4.3"), but hard to find and, as i know, officially not released yet (but some stores sell this)

and most probably will no more >5" in the future.

After seeing that video and updated specs on Willgoo's site I've decided I don't want this handheld so much. JXD S7800b is a WAY better. Still interested in G5, though.

For the price point this one seems to be pretty good.  I definately like the look of the analogs and d-pad; buttons look like they have a nice placement also.  The shape seems to fit your hands nicely and I think it would be comfortable for extended gaming time.  I'll be waiting to hear reports on how the buttons, analogs & d-pad feel. Also hear some reports on the battery life.  One thing I'm not too fond of is the big black border around the screen.  Seems unnecessary and made the device just a bit bigger than needed.  In that first pic comparing the g5 & g7, it looks like the g5 is just as wide as the g7 just not a tall.  If i had to choose between the two I'd probably go with the g7 just on that fact alone.  If it's going to be almost the same size might as well go with a bigger screen.

I just got myself a shield when they had the black friday sale so I'll be sticking with that for a good while.  If I decide to get something with a 7" screen this one will be the one I'd go with.

Is the CPU clock 1.8 Ghz correct in the final specs, or will it be less?

Will the performance be the approx. the same as on the JXD 7800? And how good will Dreamcast games run on it?

Thanks.

well according to specs, its got a quadcore rockchip with a res of 1024*600, which should have better performance than the 7800b which has the same chip but runs at 1280x800. It should run the DC emu as good as, if not better, than anything out there right now, besides the gpd g5a, which has an even lower res (800x480). The only thing that would hurt performance is the emu itself, because it may not be very optimized as it is so new, however i've read that it is actually quite stable and runs most games well =)

Yes, so far we can play all the emulator games. You can check the video that we took for emulator games.

I don't thing it is a good idea to compare both GPD G7 and GPD G5A with JXD S7800B. They have different designs. For me, I think GPD G7 and G5A are more like gaming console. 7800B is the combination for gaming console and tablets.

The resolution on G7 is much better than G5A. But the size of G5A is more comfortable for you to play games.

They do have their good points. You can select according to your demand.

The good news is that we will get these two items during this week. We will share you more final version pictures to you at that time.

Thanks. ;)

Wish they can be your new year gifts!
