I hope they keep the screen rez at 480p or 1024x600. it would be a shame if its any higher than that as the performance would be terrible.

Higher capacity battery, or removable

a black version would be nice. there is no black g5a for sale :(

I?m awaiting too for iPega 9500, but i see that iPega looks like a zombie company, without feedback or anything. (no news, web page not been updated since 2012, it is painful ...)

More suggestions:

- Dpad like a Nintendo handhelds, the best dpads forever!! ;D
- Back and home buttons, and if possible, a mapper button like S7800.
- No text below the screen, please!
- No numbers in buttons, better letters (A, B, X, Y)

If GPD hear us, and the next version of G5A brings all (or most) of our suggestions, along with custom roms skeleton, I'll don?t think twice, and I'll buy it.

Yes to all of these :)

I'd also add bluetooth and a choice of colour.

  • Avoid HD. Keep 480p for 5" device
  • Bluetooth!!!!!!!!
  • Protective and removable case cover
  • Wifi 5W (dual antenna?), for improving wifi display, wifi range, and gamestreaming.
  • Removable battery
  • NO internal memory (i hate this. much better if the device come WITHOUT internal memory, and you don?t need to mess with anything to change microsd location)
  • 2GB RAM will be ok.
  • 1~2GB app partition will be ok. (i think 1GB will be ok really)
  • Add operation LEDS (for wifi, for microsd access, power, charging, status)
  • Front camera. If you don?t thinking on adding a decent back camera (almost, 5MPx, autofocus and flash led), then don?t put any, because is so useless any camera with low resolution (under 5MPx). for this reason, Front camera will be ok for videohatting.
  • Integrate a HUB USB with almost 3 ports (1 microUSB, 2 or 3 normal USB. all of them OTG and with charging capatibilites)
  • 6 Front Buttons layout. We need to think and suggest a layout for this.
  • I really think is not necessary, but for suggesting: Vibration motors.
  • DPAD is ok, but need to improve to be better. Eliminate the annoying "clack" noise
  • The mapper is ok (is the same as S7800B), but this need to improve the right stick in AIM mode.
  • Add a specific mapper button

For layout buttons, i suggest to use a standard layout such (6 buttons layout):

X Y Z
A B C
L1, L2, R1, R2
TL, TR (Thumb buttons)
Select, start, mapper

About text below the screen, i think you can put the model name, but please, use a stylished font, according with the device (can you open a suggestion thread for this, i think)

There is nothing wrong with it. In fact my g5a is the best android device I have in terms of wifi. For streaming I think the soft must be improved, rather tan wifi capabilities. Nvidia Shield is a good example for streaming, for general Android Kainy or splashtop are just not good enough in my opinion to play almost anything, unless you stream RPG turn-based games xD.

Two external micro SD slots. Maybe omit the internal memory and have an extra internal slot too for people that want huge amounts of storage.

With PS1, Dreamcast, PSP, Mega CD, PCE CD and hige Android games we need as much storage as possible.
Handhelds:
GPD Win, GPD XD 64gb, PlayGo, RS-90, 3DS XL, DSi XL, GBA SP, GBBC Clone, Gameboy Pocket c/w screen mod, PSP Go
PC:
Medion Erazer, Toshiba Z20t, Dell Mini 9, Psion 5MX
Tons of other old laptops and tablets.....

I have the info that rebranded version of G5A for Russian market will be black coloured :D. So you can have a "Black Russian", if you will order this version from Russian store :D (it will cost you  more and you won't get any international warranty or support from Russian brand that will adopt G5A, though).

Really? I was told there won't be any changes in G5A+ except of RAM and screen, and RK32XX will be used for brand new device.

-IPS HD screen (as long as it keeps the performance and the battery life okay. I would  personally prefer an IPS with 480p, for the aforementioned reasons)

480p is perfect for 5inch, I love scanlines in 16 bits emulators and MAME, and with 480 the scanlines looks perfectly. For example, in 7inch with HD like jxd7800, the scanlines don?t looks nice.

Yes!! exactly, vibration is a very good idea. Vibration with this device would be a point.

Totally agree. But LEDs will turn off when putting the device to sleep (screen off). The red LED is now in front is always on, and should spend some battery.

Sorry for another post - a little announcement:

I can't help but second your suggestion. Dual SD slot is something I'm looking for so long on Android. Another great option here may be slot for a full-sized SD card. It will give you a easily swappable 128-256 GB of memory. (You may check my thread about uGO external cardreader for Android devices in Offtopic section, by the way).

BUT, please wait a little - this monday, as was negotiated with Kelvin from GPD, I've emailed a large (50+) batch of questions for interview with GPD staff, including questions about internal NAND capacity and possibility of dual microSD or full-size SD slot in future GPD devices.

I hope I will get an answers in next few days and then I will publish this interview in English here, on Dingoonity, next week. I hope my imperfect English won't kill the utility of this dialogue with GPD folks (if you or any other native speaker of English would help me with proof-reading before publication, it will be greatly appreciated!).

It may be possible on these current GPD consoles to actually solder a stripped down USB hub to the existing port pins and then attach stripped down Micro SD adapters to them. The tiny ones you get off eBay are miniscule when you remove the plastic and can be relocated anywhere there is room. There is quite a lot of empty space judging by the photos I have seen, particularly in the handgrips.

If you hooked two up you could just use cheap 8gb or 16gb cards for some beefed up onboard storage. Or go mental and use 64gb ones!

actually splashtop gamepad thd, is the only mainstream app in the world that can stream at 60fps with full 360 controller support, 0 aritifacts as it is cpu based. Iv posted several guides on this on Xda shield forum. Nvidia's streamer is a horrible mess of gpu encoding(to sell gpu's) full or artifacts, kainy has no xinput support as of yet, limelight is just like nvidia's streamer gpu based.

If you have a dual band N router, a desktop pc with i5 or better, splashtop gamepad thd simply cannot go a single frame below what you see on your pc at 720p.  On a laptop you must have an i5 running at high performance mode.
