Funny fact: Since i installed Legacy Rom the boot time for my device is usually 1 minute according to Android Assistant. After replacing the boot animation from PsyOps now the device is taking 43 seconds. Another one of these "android mysteries"  :P

It makes sense, the bootanimation I made is probably to heavy in Size.

may try and optimize the animations more. But what I can see in file sizes Mortal Kombat boots are preobably the biggest and Spyro comes out pretty small.

It all depends on how many frames of animation I need, I also need to play with bootanimation settings as far as playing one animation and adding a looping animation after that. Either way I am fairly new to making boots so we will see how it goes.

Yeh I think the MK boots are probably much bigger than your boot skelton, probably will slow boot down even more.
I suppose I should start adding filesize in descriptions to give ppl an idea of how long it will take to load/boot. I also have something more to consider when creating them. I think there is also an option to force the bootanimation to play all the way through even if the phone is loading, probably not a good idea to use.

Legacy ROM Bootanimation - added to post #1

This is a bootanimation that is super optimized ( to the best of my ability ). 4.45mb
It is meant as a sort of a tribute to skelton and his rom. I have loaded many roms on many devices and his is the most optimized and clean rom I have yet to use.

I will start listing the file sizes once I get a chance. So if you are concerned with load times maybe its best to keep to small size bootanimations.

Also if you can tell me what devices you made a legacy rom for skelton, please let me know and i will make the res changes for all devices.

GPD g5a and GPD g58: 800x480
GPD g7/GPD q89: 1024x600
JXD s7300b: 1024x600

That are the ones I remember, but I have made so many roms that probably forgot some of them xD

Hi PsyOps,

first: Thank you for the nice looking Spyro Boot-Logo. Looks so good on the GPD XD ;D
You have made a Mario Theme for your GPD XD. Could you make that from a PSX Game too? (my GPD is my PSX emulator^^)

Thank you again for beeing so kind! :)

Hey really nice work buddy, it's wierd I stumbled across this thread I was thinking about making some of my own custom theme for the GPD XD It arrived today haven't opened it yet as not at home.

I really liked the layout of the psp menu with white icons and style back in the day have you thought about making anything like that. I was looking some some launchers already out there but not sure if you would be able to change them enough to look like a psp menu system or if you would have to build your own launcher.

Thanks

Yeh np. Just give me an idea of what launchers n stuff you are using. I could start making psx walppapers and icons as long as you have an idea of how you want it t look. Its amazing how some of these launchers are able to do the things they can with the UI. So I suppose it's just a question of what you have and what you want it to look like.

I have had the GPD XD since xmas and I have to say I have yet to sit down and play games for more than a few hours. I like playing games but I also love gfx design hehe.

ATM I am trying to crack down on what type of launcher to use. Currently I have Square Home2 which I like a bunch, and I use halauncher as an app and not a main launcher. It works like a game browser/launcher for me and does what I need to, but lacks all the other customization I want from a main launcher. Tried stock launcher briefly and didnt like it too much ( not sure what it was). Tried Nova and its pretty nice but not friendly with gamepad nav.

I did a quick search and found : http://smartlauncher-theme-psp-ps3.en.uptodown.com/android

I will be installing it today and see how I can manipulate it.

maybe we can collaborate with some projects and make some full themes. Like I said i'm sill playing with launchers  to find the one i like. So far its "Square Home 2" by far. I like it a bunch.

I'm not intending by now to replace the chrono trigger boot animation, but just out of curiosity: After replacing the original boot animation for the chrono trigger it reduced boot time around 17 seconds. Considering that i would replace for the new one that you created would it reduce boot time even further?

I'm sure there is a minimum time that it would take to boot no matter how small the bootanimation is because of the apps and launcher it has to load. I guess it would depend on the individuals setup on their gpd. Let me update the file sizes on the main list and it will at least give you some indication of boot times.

Refresh the main list here in a few minutes.

Ow wow nice find will have alook at that, yes hit me up with a pm. Im actually really interested in doing some stuff with the GPD too it's a great piece of hardware but I think the interface and software is lacking alittle.

Now i'm not so sure if the size will actually increase boot time. I was using chrono trigger boot animation (42mb) and 43 seconds boot time. I was curious so i replaced it with the minimalist legacy rom boot animation (4.5mb). After a few reboots and shut down the xd i'm still having the same boot time.

yeh like i said i'm not sure how much you could shorten the boot. I don't know whats going on in the background or how it works exactly, anything I have to say is pure speculation.

I think testing with diff bootanimations could be interesting. If there is anyone who knows the tech side to all of this, maybe you could explain it a bit.

Whatever the outcome I will start trying to optimize them as much as I can, to keep file size small. (couldn't hurt)

I could maybe see making the boot time longer if you have some super detailed huge animation that is a big file. - but again just speculation

I have been playing with SmartLauncher pro and don't really like it tbh. The psp theme is meh.
So I played with SquaredHome launcher some more and this is what i have so far: [ Click ] (YouTube)
Tomorrow I will probably play with this widget maybe I can get a better effect. [ Click ]

I can also copy the sony boot animation to make a complete theme. With it saying GPD of course =)

That was, hmm... interesting. I don't know why, but i'm actually enjoying it. :P

Anyway, my boot time won't go lower than 43 seconds even by using the dosboot animation. I'm not complaining, for me it's pretty fast in fact.

K so I am still working on a PSP theme. These are the icons I have so far.

Just wanted to know if you guys think the emulator ones ( mostly controllers ) are clear as to their corresponding consoles. I was never a gamer with any system older than atari ( was also dirt poor) so I'm not certain as to how some systems looked.

Are these icons clear as to what they are? am i missing any? if not please let me know what i did wrong.

These are meant to look like the icons that PSP has installed. I don't even know if the icons will even be used if i post them once done.

anywho, all feedback welcome, good or bad.

I think the PSP Theme looks really good so far! :D
One suggestion for PSX Controller: https://img.clipartfest.com/e1fba9dd51669f5bb757e69d7e04c53d_log-in-sign-up-upload-clipart-playstation-controller-clip-art_2400-2400.png
What do you think about that?
