seriously.. nvidia shield portable. =) returned my xd and getting a second shield portable in case my first one eventually goes from heavy usage. was disappointed nvidia still hasn't announced any news of an SP2. after installing a custom rom on it that specifically optimizes for emulators, this thing performs even better. you can't beat the ergonomics, quality, and those speakers!

Whereabouts would you get another from?  I've been looking everywhere for one, can only find them used :(

well used is your only way to go right now for reasonable prices. i've been seeing some lucky bidders get mint condition ones for around $180. as for new.. craigslist, as i've seen people who don't know about the discontinuation sell them for retail price.

Hmm there's some brand new ones on ebay, but all from Russia, and pretty much the same price as used.  Seems iffy.

Bought my XD from geekbuying. They check each unit supposedly and offer a faster delivery option.

Obscurehandhelds has links for $10 off that were valid when I purchased in September:

wel Saber-chan, my experience with geekbuying for both XD and Q9 was also great, BUT it?s well known here that if you have a problem, you can drop dead with them. They send you funny Engrish mails with funny big pink letters, and nothing else. They lie to you saying they will pay money back after you close a paypall case. But when you do, they (probably) don?t pay  -the funny thing a closed paypall case can never be reopened!

Someone needed a *police report * to get his money back from paypall after a few months and even then he had to pay return shipping which geekbuying clearly stated on their website they would pay.

they suck.

Don?t buy from them again - I sure won?t! but off course if you have a working one like me I wouldn?t worry about it :D

The only reliable place with really very good customer service we know of is GPD?s own aliexpress store. Tiny bit more expensive, but really, *REALLY* worth it for being the only place with confirmed, consistent, great customer service if you have a problem. Get it here: http://nl.aliexpress.com/store/product/GPD-XD-RK3288-2G-16G-5-game-tablet-quad-core-IPS-Android-game-game-player-gamepad/1281164_32399735990.html Just look at the feedback!

Willgoo is decent, but not as good as that store (they try at least tough, and are honest. Much better then geekbuying). but a bit more expensive, and GPD?s own service is even better. :)

GPD's Amazon store is great too, very fast shipping directly from the company - http://www.amazon.com/s?marketplaceID=ATVPDKIKX0DER&me=A1CY3GOG15DAYY&merchant=A1CY3GOG15DAYY&redirect=true

Oh, yeah, forgot about that. But I don?t think it matters really, it?s the same seller( GPD direcly) and aliexpress store offers option to ship from US or china. Also, the link I just pasted here, you got a xd for 159 dollars including free DHL shipping and decals. DOn?t know if the amazon store has that offer.

But besides that, it?s doubtlessly just as good - same seller after all.

I see your using using n64oid is that better than mupen64 ae?

yes, i prefer N64Oid because most games works great without tweaking the emulator, and because i bought this few years ago (boutht on sleedme.org, but now their emulator was removed)... and i get impressed because that emulator (that don?t have any updates from years ago) runs most games in a reallly good way.

I tested a little bit Mupen64, and as i know, you can run many games the same or even better than N64Oid, but you must tweak a little bit for get good results. This is fine in general speaking, but for me, keep using N64Oid because is more comfortable (this is my main reason really)

Greetings!

Thanks for the response. I can't wait to play some get n64 classics on the go. I feel like a kid in a candy store, can not wait to get a Gpd xd so I can play so many games I missed or want to replay again but on the go.

$300 for a "portable" device that's running ARM. That being said, it's a very strong ARM processor.

So no thanks. I'll wait for a truly portable device running x86 from GPD.

I'm still gonna buy the gpd xd but I was trying to say that the jxd s192 looks very powerful than the gpd xd. I love the how the gpd xd reminds me of the NEW 3ds xl I have already. The jxd s192 is now $259.99 which is only $60 more than the gpd xd 64 gb version.

Well, i am sceptical about JXD S192. Sure, it looks nice on paper, Tegra GPU, but, Xiaomi Mipad with tegra GPU also looks good on paper, and have issues with heat etc. My point is, if you want stable and good device based on tegra, you can not afford to save on build and quality, and that is chinese (JXD) all about. On that level (tegra portable) I would rather get nvidia shield, even its 2 years old

great points and I agree it does look on paper and I have about the heat issues. I am waiting on my gpd xd which is coming soon but I was just trying to find the best for my money that's all. I hope the next gpd has Bluetooth(for my Bluetooth headphones) and more cpu and gpu power and more ram.

About to pull the trigger on the XD :)  do you know if Aliexpress put "gift" on their packages when sending to the UK?  Kinda worried about import tax.

I know it's not ideal because of wait times but I was told by a DHL deliveryman that if you use your countries post, you won't be considered an importer and have to pay the custom fees. Only seems to apply to couriers like DHL, FedEX, etc...

I don't know if that applies to the UK as well but it might be worth it to wait the extra time to save some money. That's up to you though. Personally, sometimes I just can't wait for something and spring for the expedited shipping.

Definitely not true in the UK, I've sent stuff from the States to my brother back home and he's had to pay duty on it which is ridiculous because it legitimately WAS a gift, we share the same name etc.  HM Customs is just completely random sometimes.

That sucks. You guys have an insane VAT tax on everything except cakes or something like that too?

Yeah... I was tempted to go for the package with the free DHL shipping, but still worrying about fees :(  Are there any decent European distributors around?
