I'm thinking it'll just be thin moulded plastic so it should come off with a craft knife, maybe dremel it off if it's being stubborn. Reckon if I partition it with some plastic I there should be enough space at the side for a USB charge cable and a stylus so it should be a neat little box.

At the moment I'm keeping it in an airsoft pistol case which is great for protection but is just too big, this is the closest I could find.

@Midknight  That one is in the US and would still be ?20 to ship over, still half the price of the one on eBay UK though!

It's also in the USA so would cost about ?20 all things considered. One thing I have learned is that you guys have much more choice than we do!

Man somethings definitely screwy with eBay then  because that last one definitely showed that it was located in the UK . Has anyone tried dealextrem.com?

Yeah but I want to keep a USB power cable in there too. Thought if I can make a little compartment at the side then I can keep other stuff in there like a HDMI adapter and a stylus etc. I think I'm going to take the bottom foam out, partition off the side then add about 5mm of foam along the top edge to protect the L2 and R2 buttons, should be nice and snug.

I was thinking of adapting the foam cutout that comes in the retail box but it's a bit too big for the microphone case.

Got the despatch email today so may be Monday when I get it now. The internal measurements direct from the seller are 23.5cm x 11.5cm x 6.5cm so it should fit. I remeasured the G5A accurately and it is 20cm x 11cm x 5cm which is slightly different to the given dimensions on seller sites.

The width of the screen section is 9cm (the grips stick out 2cm from the bottom) which may be helpful if you're looking for a case with a recessed handle.

Case arrived today, will actially need to add a thin strip of foam underneath (or some thicker eggshell foam) as the console can move around inside slightly. Now just need to dremel the handle and look for a suitable piece of plastic to partition the side off.

Poundland in the UK are selling sandwhich boxes which are a decent fit for the G5A, most compact and lightweight case I've found so far and it was only ?1. Have no idea why Photobucket decided to change it to 40x80 resolution but here's a quick mockup with some spare foam I had lying around:

I found the perfect case. Its a 805-40 handgun case.

And it fits the charger and a usb otg cable along inside with it.

I posted that MTM case here:
http://boards.dingoonity.org/gpd-devices/cases-pouches-or-bags-for-gpd-g5a/

It's a good fit for the G7 (most of the small pistol cases are) but it's a bit big for the G5A.

Just bought the vaultz box from office max for about $11. My box was branded as something else, but looks the same as the earlier vaultz box pictures. Mine has a paint palette logo on the top, but I don't mind that. Came with soft dividers inside but they use Velcro so easily removed. Could perhaps use them but not figured out a need yet. Nicely soft lined inside and perfect fit for the G5a. Seems very robust and looks great. Mine also has elastic straps in the lid that are useful for USB lead and stylus.
