3.4.0 Firmware Broke Controller Input
« on: January 01, 2016, 12:24:16 pm »
Hey all,

Had my GPD XD for quite a while on stock 3.3.1 as I couldn't find a reason to upgrade. I recently installed Kinoconsole to stream Steam games to my XD. It's the first streaming solution I've found that worked well enough for me to consider using it properly. The only issue was how the XD has the 360's LT/RT triggers in the hard-to-reach L2/R2 inset position instead of the main L1/R1 shoulder position. When I saw that 3.3.9+ allowed the swapping of the two shoulders, I decided to upgrade.

I successfully installed 3.4.0 (no SuperSU installed as yet), but without the English 1.2 addons (the link in http://boards.dingoonity.org/gpd-devices/lets-talk-xd-issues/ is broken atm, and I can't find it elsewhere).

My problem is, now Kinoconsole won't recognise the gamepad input at all, regardless of setting it to PS3 or 360 mode in the Gamepad app. None of the buttons or sticks respond.

So, I need help!
  • * Is there an easy/obvious way for me to fix this?
  • * Alternatively, can anyone recommend a decent Steam streaming setup on 3.3.9+?
  • * Can anyone point me to a working link for the preinstall_files / English add-ons v1.2?

Thanks in advance for any advice. :)

Happy New Year!

I still haven't seen 3.4.0 posted anywhere official - the system update app doesn't show it, neither does the official thread on this forum. Maybe there's a reason for that??

Anyway you should be able to download 3.3.9, boot into recovery mode and install the update over the top. People have down it to downgrade other versions.

After a bit of fiddling, rebooting and reinstalling apps, the controls came back. I also moved to Moonlight for the streaming since it's slightly better for some games.

These things are so strangely delicate tho! The controls will stop working if the host PC is suspended and won't come back until it's rebooted.

3.4.0 itself seems fine so far.
