@skelton - What's bizarre is that no other emulator or application has shown this behavior. Current running PPSSPP Gold 1.2.2.0. I've had my GPD XD set to 1800MHz as max speed over time (w/Performance governor). I've been using Kernel Auditor since the beginning of time with the XD.

Regarding Debugging Settings, are there any advantages for GPU render of 2D objects, changing hardware layer settings, etc.

Methinks I'm going to reinstall PPSSPP and go from there. I'll let you know how it goes :)

If kernel adiutor show 1,8 ghz with stock rom, have in mind that this speed is not real, since it's locked by GPD at 1,4 ghz, so with LegacyROM you are overclocking it. I would try to reduce CPU speed a little bit to see if it helps. But I personally never suffered a single freeze with PPSSPP emulator.

Good advice. I will cap out speeds at 1400MHz for the next while, and I'll let you know how that goes.

Hi,

I tried this new legacy firmware and it seems to work great. However, I would like to report that I also tried to back it up via TWRP and I can see that maybe all the OS has been put on the same partition as TWRP do not recognize the SYSTEM partition anymore with this version of firmware, thus, cannot be recoverable in case one want to do a backup of it via TWRP.

So my question is

-I would like to know what source did you use to compile the firmware. I was looking at the firefly firmware source found here: http://wiki.t-firefly.com/index.php/Firefly-RK3288/Build_android/en
this seems to be the closest source configured for the GPD XD as the 2 have very similar specs. I however tried their images and no it's not working well on the GPD :).

I'd like to give it a whirl myself at compiling the firmware so if you could share some of the basic material you used for it, that'd be appreciated.

Regards.

What TWRP are you using? there is no TWRP for GPD_XD, perhaos you need to try some that use datamedia storage, I think oma from arctablet make a generic one for RK3288 devices. There is also CWM, perhaps you can try them:

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/rk3288-entwicklung-und-customroms-development-and-croms/rk3288-rom-twrpcwm-flash-tool-custom-root-firmware-20150117/

My partition scheme is the same as stock firmware (same partition size and unified storage), so in stock rom it shoudl work the same way TWRP or CWM. but in my opinion TWRP is not so much needed in RK3288 because you can change roms without losing your data.

About my sources, I use them from GPD directly for tablets and the original AOSP from google 4.4.4. I aslo included some stock firm stuff from 3.4.2 firmware. Firefly sources need more work because tvbox SDK is a bit different. I cannot make them public due to NDA. Though I will upload kernel to github when I have some time.

GPD can also provide you the sources, but you need to show them some of your work to see if you are developer or not. I suppose thet don't want them to make it public.

The only version I was able to get going for TWRP on the GPD XD is : CrewRKTablets_RK32_TWRP_CWM_Root_v2.2 800x1280 version, the other have bad resolution schema.

I tried what you just posted, i however ended up going to their site directly and trying a bunch of version myself.

The version i have form their website is
Jun 22, 2015
TWRP 2.8.7.0 Released from https://twrp.me/

That is the latest version that works for me on the GPD XD.

Hope that helps.

If that version works for you, it should work too in my firmware, since partitions, mounting points etc are the same...

I don't knoe because I don't use TWRP or CWM, but try to see if it works. Or maybe ask Oma to make a specfic version for XD:

I will test with the option to include the NULL joystick option this weekend if I have some time. I will try to update firmware for next week is everything is ok.

Will this include the new Mali drivers as well?
Or only NULL joystick drivers?

at the moment only null joystick driver. According to GPD DEV, the new mali drivers have some issues that must solved by Rockchip (mali libraries are closed sourced unfortunately).

Edit: source used posted in 1st post.

Okido! Thanks for the heads up.
I don't care much for the NULL joystick stuff. So I won't be flashing a new rom.  8)

I think I'm lost with the govenor thing...
So as, far as I understand, governors are already included in your Legacyrom, but I can't find them anywhere.
So the question is, how do I access the governors ?
Or maybe I need to download specific apps ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Just install a CPU app like in stock firmware. there are many apps like this: SetCPU, NoFrilsCPUm Kernel Adiutor.... etc..

It's explained in the GENERAL TIPS section of first post.

Some great news! I was also able to use the Arctablet tool - (http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/rk3288-entwicklung-und-customroms-development-and-croms/rk3288-rom-twrpcwm-flash-tool-custom-root-firmware-20150117/) -  test flash both TWRP 2.8.4.0 and CWM and then do backups with each recovery.

Now, which flavor of TWRP 2.8.7.0 did you use?

Cool, thanks. I misunderstood your post (I thought ragingmolasses & some other governors were already accessible).
Any CPU app you recommend over the others ?
Thanks

I use SETCPU, but most of them are very similar. NoFrills is also fine.

I have noticed a bug in my rom, but fortunately can be solved. The bug is important: my rom doesn't allow to update via microSD or come back to stock via this way. But it has a solution:

Step 1 - Install Softwin_update.apk. It's the app GPD included for OTA updates:

https://mega.nz/#!0sQHiDJK!lC_3Yq9Se0zMRlmHJHVWopRp-DGGnXFrHmzwNfsQ3UE

Step 2 (probably unnecesary). Copy this apk to system/app with a root explorer and put 644 permissions. (rw-r-r-)

https://mega.nz/#!8lRVmDqT!wyJy0jzGs291NntmMzuzyZd3shBEWRuMfgg1EyCMSUU

Open the update apk you installed in step 1, select offline upgrade and select your update.img. And that's it.

If the softwin_upgrade app gives you a Force Close, do a clear data and cache of this app and try opening again.

Sorry for the inconvenience. I will edit first post too.

On other good news, the NULL joystick driver is implemented and horizon chase can be played finally in the XD. Give a day or two to test before releasing an update.

This is only needed if you want to update through microSD, right?
Not needed if you use the RK batch Tools?
