I think the button nexto to the gamepad button in the nav bar allow you to keep it permament, but inmersive mode is a feature in Kitkat. Maybe some Xposed module like Gravity box allow you to customize your nav barthe way you want. I don't have my q9 with me anymore, so I cannot test by myself

Unfortunately, that doesn't force the nav bar to stay visible on a permanent basis. Immersive mode sucks IMO. Not a feature so much as an annoyance. But it's a minor one. Thanks for responding though!

In settings/storage option. Mame4droid sometimes have issues updating from this device. But you can do the following, unmount in settings the nand flash partition, update mame from the play store, and then mount nand flash again. It's a weird thing but makes thebtrick for that app. I think my rom already included latest mame0139. is there a New versi?n?

that's weird, I don't see a new mame update at all. Seems the last one is the one from June which is the one I included in the rom-

Yeah, I visited play store too, but no updates in any of my android devices in play store.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.seleuco.mame4droid&hl=es You can see when is last update here.
It's the same version I already had from June, the one I included in the rom. I know the dev (seleuco) and he told me he hasn't updated since June. Perhaps something on your device was deleted and play store thought you needed an update or something. Weird.

Interesting note:

Jumped in late with a new Q9 PSV - Immediately loaded this rom (because I KNOW what's good for me) and installed - when I opened up the Play Store, I was confused - ALL KINDS of games that should be compatible, were listed as incompatible. Stupid things, like Jetpack Joyride.

The cause? An elder version of the Play Store - just go into the play store settings and click on the current version number - you will get a message that an update will be loaded. It won't happen immediately, but a few minutes later - I had the latest version of the store - and all apps were compatible, again!

And, of course, Skelton, I am once again in your debt for this fine bit of programming... =)

Skelton,

I noticed that the Contacts[People] app is missing. Contacts Storage and Sync are present. I reflashed the device twice now. I tried restoring the Contacts app from the stock rom but it will not install. Am I doing something wrong or was it not included for a reason?

To be honest no idea because I have never used contacts. If I removed it, certainly it wasn't on purpose. Or maybe Rockchip SDK doesn't include it by default. I suppose you can use the one from stock rom and should work I guess.
I don't have this device anymore so I haven't checked it.
BTW, I just came from hospital after a surgery, so I will be off for a while. So don't expect much support from me next weeks.

Ya, already tried installing it from another rom, didn't work. I use it for Google Voice and Hangouts. It's not required for them to work, but they just don't show Contact names and whatnot.

Get better soon! And Happy Holidays!

Hello there,

Congratz for the forum and the tools provided, they are great. Please, let me ask for help installing the Legacy ROM. I have a GPD Q9PSV and want to install the 1,8 overlock version. I have 4.4.4 firmware right now, and I am installing using a Windows Vista Laptop (not my macbook pro, but I think is better for this purpose due to usb compatibility) with USB 2.0. I follow the steps but when I press the ''restore button'' I get this problem:

Fail install image

I can't go any further of this step. I don't know if I am doing anything wrong. Because I installed the RKchip drivers before and followed the steps provided carefully.

Any suggestion or advice?.

Thanks in advance

What brand of cable are you using? When I flashed my Q9 the only cable that worked was a Samsung cable.

Standard black cable, not of any specific brand, but I will take note of your appreciation ;).

I recommend trying to find a good cable. May not be the exact problem but I first used the cable that came with the Q9 and it failed, as did a couple generic black cables.

Hello all.

Sorry...noob's first question on this forum.  :)  I am also admittedly an Android virgin and I am jumping in with both feet having ordered a Q9 and an XD (and a Mi Box and a new Shield TV).  :S

1.  Can I make a full ROM back up of the current Q9 that I can restore in case the move to the legacy rom goes horribly wrong?

2.  What is the launcher of preference?  I would like to mimic the layout of the stock ROM as much as possible.

TIA!

John

1 - You can use twrp recogerte for that. There Is a post somewhere in this subforum. But reinstalling stock ROM Is enough.

2- if You like metro Launcher stylw from GPD thwre are some un PlayStore. I don't like them si not dure what to suggest. I use smart Launcher Pro in all? my devices. I don't own a q9 anymorre but my ROM for q9 includes apex Launcher which is good for me too.

Hope you are recovering well skelton, or already recovered!

Since you don't have a Q9 any more I guess this means no more Q9 development? Was looking forward to a newer Android version :(

No more development from me for any system i am afraid, because i Will probably need a New surgery.. Newer Android versions are worse for gaming in rk3288 anyway because of bad mali drivers (unless rockchip provides New stuff)
