Pardon the probably obvious question, but I didn't see it specifically mentioned anywhere: If I flash this, will it wipe my device?  I assume backups are mandatory if I don't want to lose the state of my apps?  Thanks for your work skelton!

Yep, it wipes completely because data storage has been increased to 6 GB

Hi skelton,
I really love your ROMs, with your ROM and tincore I can play anything!

I have a question though - is it possible to include the android bluetooth stack and drivers for a USB bluetooth dongle? I'd really like to be able to use my bluetooth headphones and smart watch with my Q9PSV!

Thanks :)

This would be awesome, if possible!

Bluetooth dongle support was removed by Google and can't be re-added AFAIK.

I have also stopped developing roms for a while.

This is just a minor update: Changelog:

- Device spoofed as a Nexus 5 to increase goggle compatiblity.
- Free of bloatware. Only emus included are mame4droid 0.139 and fba4droid.
- Added new wifi drivers, and updated to latest RK SDK source.
- Included several joystick modes, like in GPd XD (Ps3 mode, XBOX and NULL). PS3 is more compatoible wih emulators (retroarch), but apparently some android games work better in xbox mode. NULL mode disables joystick detection so games with controls issues like horizon chase or Exiles Zero can be used wirth GPd Mapper. You can use Gaempad app included to select between modes. Also, you can change triggers l1 for l2 and r1 for r2.
- Data partition increased to 6 Gb. Internal SD is now about 7 GB so selecting microSD as main memory is recommended.
- Selinux set to permissive in kernel.
- mnt/external_sd symliked to storage/sdcard1, so you can access external SD from both paths.
- Some other minor tweaks to speed up a little bit the device.

SCREENSHOTS:

The firmware come in two  versions, 1,6 ghz max and 1,8 ghz. Be careful with 1,8 ghz, it may be unstable on yours, in my q9psv 1,8 ghz is a bit unstable but however it was stable in my old standard q9. Make sure you download the firmware according to your device.

INSTALLATION:
This method is mandatory because of the partition changes. You cannot update the rom via microSD.

Install RK drivers included and open BatchTool, and choose the img file you want to install. With the GPD powered off press volumen + and connect it to PC. BatchTool should recognize device and show a green box. choose Restore and waut until process finished. Then power on device and wait till<process finshes . If you are using win 8.1, win10 or usb 3.0 ports try this method if device is not recognized:

http://talk.radxa.com/topic/1026/solution-rk-batchtool-problem-with-64bit-windows-8-1-usb3/4

Once firmware is installed, superSU will ask you to update binaries. Just select normal option in superSU and ready to go.

If I want to flash this to my GPD XD, what version do I take? Or doesn't it matter? I'm on stock 3.4.6 now.
Thanks!

You shouldn't flash this on the xd. The xd has its own custom rom in this subforum.

Please don't quote entire posts to make a comment. It really makes the thread messy. If you want to ask a question, just ask.

I know this has been asked,  but does the Q9 support 128gb SD card?

Just registered today. Yay!

Oh my Word. I have just finished reading through this entire thread and the entire Skeleton Legacy Rom thread for the XD.

I couldn't wait any longer and I ordered both today.

I have been eyeing up both devices and wondering which one I should get. The XD or the Q9? I was initially leaning towards the Q9 just for that awesome D-pad. But the XD seems so much more popular, so I just bit the bullet and got both.

I absolutely cannot wait to get these bloody things from China. I bought both from seemingly reputable sources on eBay. Shipping averages 5-7 business days to the USA.

I have been wanting a portable console to play retro games now for a while, and I even considered grabbing a used psp model 2000 and install homebrew, but these devices are what I was looking for!

Skeleton, my man! You are absolutely awesome. Live long and prosper my friend. You are a blessing to the scene. Get better soon.

Both,  nice!  I sold my XD because of hand cramps...  Worst decision I have made in a long time.  On my q9 right now.  Hopefully the XD 2 won't be that far away.

Heheh...XD-2. Best name!

I know i havent even toched a XD yet, but.....

FANTASY FEATURE REQUEST!!!!!

XD-2:

1. Take away the small nintendo like d-pad and use the d-pad on the q9, just like the q9 snagged the joysticks off of the xd. The retro fighter games and gamers will love you! (I will too!)

2.  Slightly bigger screen on the XD. Maybe 5.5 or 6 inch screen? Then, 1080p up that bad boy for glorious gaming!

3. Of course, faster processor if possible. Let's emulate ps2 and perhaps gamecube (maybe????) on this thing!

4. Wireless AC antennas. Or to maybe keep costs down, we can keep wireless N, but please make it dual band. (2.4Ghz/5Ghz)

Q9-2/Q-10

1. 1080p pixels. Keep the large screen. Love the large screen. Just increase pixel amount to 1080p as well. Can you imagine the amazing gaming you can do on a 1080p 7 inch screen?

2. Same as #3 of the xd-2. Faster processor, (pretty sure it would have one) Maybe allow some sort of windows envirnment dual boot mechanism with a switch/rocker button? Would be awesome to play low level pc games and maybe lesser demanding titles on it. I know GPD win is coming with windows 10 mobile version, but q9 model could use this too, since screen is larger and would look awesome.
Also, no need for a built in keyboard on the Q9, as the screen is large enough to just include an on screen keyboard just like all phones.

3. Same as xd-2 #4.

Just to name a few.... but so far, this device is awesome. Anybody can feel free to repeat or add to this anytime! Will post this in the xd thread too! Yay!

Keep it up Game Pad Digital....

Oh, one last thing, next time you relaunch, please, please work out some US/EU/AU resellers. We need to have these things faster if possible. I personally dont mind waiting to get something from China, but i think logistically, it can cut down on damaged devices, customs delays and quicker services. I am not an expert in economics, but even i know that the demand for third party LOCAL sellers is high...

Hey group i got 2 questions?

1.  Has anyone used Helium (formerly Carbon) Backup?
2.  Has anyone got it to work on a GPD device?

I use Titanium, but Helium is easy to use and you can use it on non rooted devices.

Hey skeleton, I just wanted to say thanks.  I had zero issues, even on windows 10 without the need for any fixes.  This was by far, the simplest ROM change I've done to date on an Android device.

I have now also done the update, thank you very much skelton. FYI, I'm on Win10 and I needed to add these lines to the config.ini for my device to get recognized (as per your instructions):
LOGFLAG=TRUE
SUPPORTLOWUSB=TRUE
FULLSPEEDUSB=TRUE

But after doing this, the device was recognized and everything worked fine!

Yey, Goat Simulator now works on my GPD Q9 PSV. I never got it to work before, but after upgrading to latest LegacyROM it now works.

Sure..

Skelton, I know you're retired, but I have a question. Is there a way to completely disable the nav and status bars from auto-hiding? It is getting very irritating! I'd also like it to stay on top of other apps. I have looked everywhere and nothing works.
