Make sure you are using Windows 7 and USB 2.0 port. Or try with a different cable.

hey, I'm having trouble getting my q89 recognised by the RK Batch Tool, i've plugged it in, held down vol+ and the power button, but i'm not having any luck - even tried the driver assistant and everything.

Any ideas?

This is the method I used to flash my GPD Q89 on windows 8.1 and it worked. The only difference is, I was able to install the drivers beforehand and the computer would recognize my GPD, so did not need to do steps 1-3. Even with the drivers installed the RKBatchTool would not recognize it until I edited the config.ini in step 4. Hope this can help.

This solve the drivers problems in Windows 8.1:

1) Connect your device to the computer in flash mode.
The computer will say ?USB Device Not Recognized?.

2) Go to Device Manager and you will see your device listed as ?Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)? in ?Universal Serial Bus controllers? section.
Now in ?Universal Serial Bus controllers? section you should also have ?USB Root Hub??s (might be several of them).

3) Click through them and find the one that has ?Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)? in the ?Power? tab (should be next to General).

4) Right click on that ?USB Root Hub? and press ?Disable?.
Now you should have a small arrow pointing down on the USB Root Hub icon and the ?Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)? should have disappeared.

Now you have to go to the folder where the RKBatchTool is located on your system.
Find the file "config.ini" and open it.
Find the section where it says:
LOGFLAG=TRUE
#SUPPORTLOWUSB=TRUE时,扫描支持full speed usb设备,默认只支持high speed usb设备
SUPPORTLOWUSB=

Write TRUE next to the second ?SUPPORTLOWUSB=?

It should be like this:

LOGFLAG=TRUE
#SUPPORTLOWUSB=TRUE时,扫描支持full speed usb设备,默认只支持high speed usb设备
SUPPORTLOWUSB=TRUE

Save the file and open the RKBatchTool as usual and you should see the green square in Connected Devices.

Now you will be able to flash the rom.

This is the method I used to flash my GDP Q89 on windows 8.1 and it worked. The only difference is, I was able to install the drivers beforehand and the computer would recognize my GDP, so did not need to do steps 1-3. Even with the drivers installed the RKBatchTool would not recognize it until I edited the config.ini in step 4. Hope this can help.

Sorry my English I use google translator.
I did not understand that part of the available patch in Quickflasher rar, only for Q89 models.

It means that the Q89 has the GPU clock to 446 and with this patch I increased to 600MHZ.
So I would 1.606Mhz + 600Mhz GPU.

Or is it for those who had problems and wants to return stock.

It's an optional patch to increase GPU speed to 600 mhz. In my opinion is not much needed. Performance is just slightly better and you'll have less battery time.

Opa. I understand, it's just to increase the GPU but this will reduce the battery without a noticeable gain in performance.
Thank you.

I have another question, the Q89 box says 4x 1.8 Ghz but you said some are 1.2 or 1.4 Ghz and its Rom you raised to 1.6. Why not 1.8GHZ with says on the box?

Because of bad advertising by GPD. RK3188 can run theorically at that speed, but in most cases 1,6 is the limit, specially in RK3188-T models. Some tvboxes can run even at 2.0 ghz, but only with a good heatsink.

I tested the firmware provided by the E114 and it is identical to the original When I got the MetroUI style handset with lower clock around 1.4 GHz, so I Decided to go back to version 2.0 Skelton but had errors on the screen to reinstall the Legacy ROM

E: \ failed to mount / mnt / external_sd (No such device)
E: \ failed to mount / mnt / external_sd (No such device)
E: \ failed to mount / mnt / external_sd (No such device)
E: clone_data_if_exist-> can not find databk partition

After using a MicroSD 8GB mistake was that.

E: failed to mount / metadata (invalid argument)

You can ignore that errors from recovery. It's a bug from rockchip recovery but the formatting of the partitions is fine according to that log.

What is the correct way to install gpd_q88_kernel_oc_quickflasher? I put him in SD and is not recognized, then I put in quickflasher folder and then he appears in Internal and External SD. What should I install? I choose Rockchip Universal?

You can select internal or external in quickflasher folder, depending where you copied. and yes, rockchip universal is fine, though selecting g5a profile goes fine too? If you want to try the GPU patch for 600 mhz in Mali in my opinion it's not worth it. Though you are free to go.

If you want to go back you can flash the non OC using quickflasher too.

I decided usasr OC for field frequently android games.
I used for two days and noticed that the battery drains quickly and had some bugs also with her.
Then I reinstalled the firmware and decided to use OC and so far everything is normal and of course continues spending a lot of battery, all the games I tested run perfect with OC.

How can I check the GPU Clock and whether the OC was successful?

Running a DMESG from terminal. You should see something like 594 mhz for mali values. But the fact your battery is worse is rather indicative that flashing went ok. because with GPU overclock device drains quicker. In my opinion the difference in performance with standard kernel does not compensate the difference in battery life.

Battery life should be about 4 or 5 hours wirh standard kernel, not more than 3 with overclcoked one. Stock firmware has a slightly better battery because it runs at 1,2 or 1,4 and DDR speed is also lower.

I had a bad performance with the battery with the original firmware.
I'm noob at android then not use the terminal to check the Clock. I thought about using an app.

I could explain me why I had as low a result with AnTuTu 8000 with the stock firmware, after I installed the SetCPU AnTuTu scored 24000?

In AnTuTu screen print at the beginning of the post mark over 25,000

8000 score for Antutu is not normal. About 23000 and 25000 is a normal score for RK3188 with latest versions of antutu.

Benchmark soft is no 100 percent precise anyway, so results may vary a bit, but 8.000 points in Antutu is not normal at all, I don't know how you got that result, perhaps some app was bottlenecking your device, or something was bad configured.

To use terminal, you can use a terminal app from play store if you don't want to use ADB.

I tested with AnTuTu after flashing the firmware.
The two versions of firmware have the same result.
It had nothing running in the background.
With no market app update.
Stock Firmware The result was 8000, after enabling SetCPU the result was 24,000.

I have two tablets of GENESIS and Phaser Gamer brand also an IPEGA PG-9023, both are Chinese manufacture and inexpensive, but their quality is far superior to GPD Q89. The unit has received many bugs one fragile construction, the device seems to twist in the hand and makes noise in the housing. I had to disassemble the GPD to correct a flaw in the left analog because it was locked, had a piece of tape holding the battery stuck in the corner locking the drive analog. The bad Backlight screen has spots everywhere and matt of dark scenes.

The seller said I have to send it back but it will be expensive and take many months.
Feeling sad.

It's not a question of build quality,  you probably just got a defective unit. My device is fine and no problems so far as the one you mention. I had to change a PSvita after one week because it was defective and that doesn't mean Sony make bad products. But the probabilty with chinese products is always higher to get a bad unit. I must be lucky though, I have had several devices from JXD and GPD and never got a problem with them.

If your product is defective, the seller should assume the cost. If you have payed with paypal I would open a paypal dispute.

Anyway, let's keep this thread to talk about my firmware.

Hello.
I changed the bootanimation it was not pretty and has not a perfect loop animation.
But I could not edit the splash screen that appears before the bootanimation.
Some method to change this Splash screen?

The splash screen is inside the kernel. You cannot change it unless you compile your own kernel or use stock kernel that has another splash screen.

I ordered a regular Q89 GPD, and received the new version Q88PSV.
And I want to know which version of LegacyROM can I use this model?
