Try putting a file called android_audio.mp3 or bootaudio.mp3 in system/media with 644 permissions and see if it works. Not sure though, I have never been interested too much in these kind of things.
I tried that but i still hear no sound.

No idea then, unless you need to add something to desc.txt inside bootanimation.zip.

I see. Just another question, if you don't mind: At the description you said "Mali, HDMI, wifi new drivers". Are these the same drivers included in 1.1 kitkat version or are they newer?

They are newer, though I personally haven't noticed any difference, because device worked alright before too

Thanks. I will stick with the 1.5 version then. Do you think that in any moment in the future we could also have the jellybean 1.5 version?

This is more out of curiosity: When i had my jxd s602 (low quality screen, just like the g5a) there was this app called color adjust. I remember changing some settings and making colors a little more "alive" and colorful. Is there any app that could do the same?

I don't think I update JB version (probably no more updates even for kitkat), Rockchip is no longer developing JB, they are focused on Android 4.4.4 at the moment, though it has some bugs that need to be resolved.

Not sure about apps that allow change contrast, gamma and that kind of things, I know there are some for nexus devices, but I don't know.

I have noticed a small bug in 1.5 when playing real racing 3. It detects the joystick driver twice and cannot be used with native controls. I'll upload a new kernel tomorrow to be installed via quickflasher. (It's just a kernel, so no need to reflash a whole rom)

Hi Skelton, any news about the battery bug or if it can be fixed? I still didn't checked it using legacy kitkat 1.5, but with 1.1 sometimes the device just dies when it says 42%, or 35%, or 24%. The lower value i could get was 15%. The worst part is that the device won't warn anything. It just goes off.  ???

No news, and it's pretty random. My device powerd off when I was at 8 percent last time.

Edit, added to the first post new kernel (standard and Oc) for rom 1.5 that will allow Real Racing 3 to be played with native controls during race.

Just a quick question: I'm using drastic r2.2.1.2a and i would like to use the map specials option with the right analog like pressing up switches screens, pressing down activates the menu, but it won't recognize the right stick.

Was it recognized before? Because nothing has changed in the driver for the right analog stick

No, never. But works fine with other emulators like snes9x, ppsspp and tincore so isn't related to hardware, i guess. I was just asking because sometimes i play with my smartphone using a bluetooth controller called IPEGA PG-9025. It has one dpad and two analog sticks, which are all independent. Using this gamepad i can set some shortcuts like swapping screen, save and load state for the right stick.

Probably that gamepad use different inputs and you can set analogs as standard analogs or just keys or mouse.  I suppose Drastic cannot assign actions to an Axis, and need a button to do that. Other emus have also that problem like n64oid.

Try with Tincore that can convert right analog to standard keys (WASD). Just load a pre:gamepad profile, select right stick in editor, and select press keys (4). Apply profile and should work. Something like in this picture: (It's in spanish but I think you can get an idea)

I just tested on mine and seems to work ok. (though perhaps I miss something becuase I never play drastic)

I'm probably doing something wrong, but it didn't worked. It's no big deal, really. Thanks for your help Skelton.

There's just a small bug that is sort of annoying. When i'm playing some games like Need For Speed Most Wanted the stock mapper auto activates itself and creates a profile, which is really basic, and doesn't have advanced features that tincore has like setting sliding screen for a button. In order to play this game i need to open it, stock mapper auto activates, then i need to disable it, return to home screen, activate tincore profile and just then play the game. Isn't there a way to at least disable it? I searched at the app folder inside the system partition, but no luck.

Also, isn't there another way to install fonts? I have some here i would like to install. They are the usual zip files which i use TWRP into recovery mode to install into my smartphone. The same packages aren't recognized by tincore quickflasher. Is there any other alternatives? Thanks.

You need some addon to use the pre:gamepad mode in Tincore, not sure what addon exactly because I have the full version, but try again because it works, I can map right analog using pre:gamepad.

Stock mapper is not an apk, it's an activity, and it's embedded into the system in several system jar files. Only way to remove it is to recompile everything from scratch or use 1.1 rom.

To flash fonts maybe you can try to install CWM and flash from there. There is a CWM compatible with kitkat in arctools.apk that it is in arctablet. I think it's called CWM recovery by ManuPC or something like that.

Thanks Skelton. It's great to see that even though you're "retired" you still help users like me with these annoying questions. :)

This is probably a (very) stupid question but what's supposed to happen when I set the "External SD" as the Default Installation Location in Settings/Storage?

I can't see any difference in behaviour of the machine (even after a reboot) and eg OpenMSX still defaults to the "Internal SD" storage location for it's config files (while these are stored in "External SD"

It changes mount points, so your internal SD (called nand flash in settings/storage) is the microSD and the external becomes the internal nand flash. Useful to save big android game in the microSD without the need of using folder mount or similar app. Full power off and on is needed, the soft reboot option included in the ROM is not enouch until you power off and on the device.

How do you save a control setup for a particular game in the stock keymapper?  I've edited the layout for Carmaggedon and pressed "save/hide" but the keymapper seems to lose it after exiting the game.

I don't know if stock mapper allows that. It's a very simple mapper. Maybe when you enter the game again and press mapper button it remembers the profiles? No idea to be honest, I only use Tincore keymapper.

Thanks for the reply about the stock mapper Skelton.  I thought the mapper would log the setup against the default name for the app, but it didn't do that for Carmageddon, it just goes to defaults when the game is restarted another day.  Based on this I'd prefer Tincore on the action bar.  I know you suggested to someone else to revert to an earlier firmware to do this, but that seems like a backward step.  Is there any chance you can make another kernel for 1.5 that changes the key mapper on the action bar back to tincore?  I think once people start using the default mapper they will realise that it's too limited and it's a shame for possibly your last build to not have the tincore action bar option.
