Ok, point taken. (I was thinking if I should update my G5A to 1.1 next week or wait for 1.2.) Thank you.

Most probably yes, any winXP or win7 should do the trick (even if it's virtualizaed)

Love the new ROM, I flashed my G5a with version 1.0 as soon as I got it and am delighted to see an update. The screen seems to look better, although I don't know if it's just the new background on the home screen. Don't give up developing for this model as your ROM was what finally made me buy the G5a.

One minor issue you might be able to help with is the keyboard. It doesn't have the swype mode for entry and I also tried to enable slide-it keyboard, but there doesn't seem to be any way to switch the default.  Can you offer any advice?

The keyboard is just the stock keyboard. I haven't include other ones because some people prefer one kind of keyboards and some another. You can try others keyboard apps from google play store to suit your needs.

Found out the keyboard problem. Kitkat has a bug that disables paid keyboard apps. Enabled slide-it keyboard and selected as default in device settings and it's working now :-)

Hi Skelton, my g5a still hadn't arrived. Probably around wednesday, but i just wanted to thank you for this and the jellybean rom. I don't know if i'll stick with JellyBean or KitKat, but it will be one of your roms, that's for sure. Your work is highly appreciated by everyone here.

Sorry about the double post, i would never do that. I just wanted to say that i tried both jellybean and the kitkat legacy roms. Both of them are superb, but i choose to stick with this one. Skelton and Tincore did a great job with this rom.

Great work in this rom, Skelton, thanks!!!!

So, just after the install of the LegacyRom I used Tinicore QuickFlasher to flash ClockWorkMod Recovery with the zip file sugested by this review:

http://manguiro.blogspot.de/2014/01/review-gpd-g5a-quad-core-5.html

But now, when I go to recovery mode (volume+ power) it shows some messages like:

E: can't find misc
E: can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log

It shows "CWM-based Recovery modified by androtab.info v6.0.3.1" and the menu options, but I can't do my backup because of those erros above.

Did you get this problem too? Or there is another cwm flash you suggest to use with the LegacyRom?

Thanks in advance!

Note: I can go out of the recovery using the first option of the menu, and go to the Legacy android with no problem.

That CWM is for the JellyBean ROM, not for kitkat. That's why CWM package is not included in the kitkat rom.

For kitkat, try arctools apk and install the iFive X2 Android 4.4.2 CWM Recovery by ManuPC. I think that arctools apk should be available at arctablet webpage I think.

in fact this has ben answered before:

Thanks for your help, Skelton!

I got the "iFive X2 Android 4.4.2 CWM Recovery by ManuPC" zip and used Tinicore QuickFlasher to flash ClockWorkMod Recovery with it.

And it worked!!! ;)

Thanks one more time, and congratulations for the nice job!

Yes. Thanks Skelton you make many of these Android handhelds worth having. My ydpg16 was almost useless before I installed your ROM. The gpdg5a is much nicer to use with skelrom too.

I have paid for tincore's keymapper. So, how do we send you a donation for your effort?

Have you installed the rockchip drivers included? If you are using windows 8.1 that can be the issue. Try in a win 7 or win XP

Hi Skelton, i'm still using this great rom. Just a quick question: Will there be any side effect if i uninstall the Google Maps? Since this device doesn't have any kind of gps is mandatory to keep it? Thanks.

Hello all,

For someone new to opensource hand helds how risky is it too install this firmware? I mean this purely from a competence standpoint.
