[GUIDE] Mapping properly ePSXe 1.9.17 in GPD devices
« on: March 10, 2014, 07:03:25 pm »
Well, some people has been reporting than using legacy and stock roms there are some random issues with L2 buttons and stick and the last version of epsxe, I have decided to make a quick guide in how to setup all buttons and analogs in a proper way, so you'll see that everything works fine, no issues at all.

First, go to Player 1 and select te following:

- Pad Type PSX: Dualshock (if you want analogs, some games are digital only so change to digital in games that need it)
- Select gamepad: Tincore-joy or "Playstation 3" if you are using stock.
- Player 1 map  buttons: Here just map your buttons manually as you do in any emulator.
- Player 1 map axis: Here we configure our analogs, so select the following:
           - Left Stick X: Axis X
           - Left stick Y: Axis Y
           - Right Stick X: Axis Z
           - Right Stick Y: Axis RZ
           - L2 Trigger: Axis_Ltrigger
           - R2 Trigger: Axis_RTrigger

And you are done, everything is set up to use both analogs and buttons properly.

If you still have some doubts I explain it too in the following video:

Hi,

Thanks for your tutorial but I am still having troubles with epsxe. For example in Rival Schools or Street Fighter Alpha I can't use the analog stick. I tried both dualshog or digital only with no luck. Other PSX emu don't have this problem, you can always use the analog instead of the digital. I guess this is a epsxe problem only. Do someone have a fix?

The strange thing is that in epsxe settings menu the analog works just ok to move up and down in the menus.

This is too bad cause epsxe is way better than other emus (appart from gamepad settings!).

But those games support analog in a real PSX? Because ePSXe emulate controls exactly like a real PSX.

For those games you can use Retroarch instead.

I can't use the analog stick on Final Fantasy VIII on RetroArch. The game supported it. Does RetroArch not support the analog stick? I have a G5A, if that helps. Thanks!

I am not sure if Retroarch support analog in PSX yet or not. For analog games I always use ePSXe. FPSe support analogs properly too.

Hi

I have only just bought a gpd xd and am trying out epsxe

When i go to select gamepad type, there is no option for tincore-joy.

The options are
Virtual Touchscreen Gamepad
None
(726:35301)XBOX
Moga

Is there a way to manually add tincore-joy?

Thanks

I use the following settings, and no problem with analogs when playing Rival Schools:

Player1:XBOX
Pad Type PSX: Digital (Only)
Select Gamepad: the actual device
Player1 map buttons:Map hardware buttons to controller 1
