Ipega PG 9083 : Xinput on Windows?
« on: June 30, 2018, 06:57:51 pm »
Hello,

Anyone here tested this tablet gamepad on Windows? Does it support xinput?

I know that there are software workarounds to convert dinput to xinput, but I have the old Ipega and it's a pain.

Thanks!

I have the iPega-9076. I don't know if the 9083 works in the same way or not, so can only share my experiences with my model.

The 9076 supports xInput on windows, but defaults to a PS3 controller. You have to hold down turbo for 3 seconds after connection to switch it to switch it to xInput mode.

The 9076 doesn't support connection to a PC via Bluetooth, however. Bluetooth work when connection to Android devices, but to connect to a PC you need to either use a cable, or the built in 2.4Ghz wireless receiver.

Which ipega gamepad do you have?

I just purchased an ipega PG-9083 from eBay yesterday, so hopefully I'll receive it next week. I'll let you know after I've tested it.
I'm also planning to buy a ipega PG-9023 from a mate of mine on Sunday.

I have the ipega PG-9023, which is the previous tablet gamepad they've made.

Anyway, I've been told on discord that even the PG-9083 doesn't support xinput in BT mode, it does only in USB mode.

Ah ok, I didn't know that.
How come I always see the PG-9023 on YouTube being the primary ipega gamepad controller for Windows tablet users? Every video I've ever watched show the input controls of the PG-9023 working perfectly on Windows games, as well as emulators.

Btw, I have PG-9023 now but can't test it until I have a decent Windows PC/laptop or device to test it on.

Well, maybe because it's the only tablet gamepad on the market... Also, there are tools to convert dinput to xinput, it's a pain and you have to setup each game everytime, but it does works. Also, some old games / emulators work with dinput natively.

USB mode? Doesn this mean it will work wired?

I have been in search for a telescoping wired gampad, there is nothing out there.

It looks like it is D_INPUT via bluetooth and X_INPUT when wired.  You can download the manual here: http://m.ipega.hk/uploads/201806/5b2c968ea6f80.pdf

Hopefully someone on this forum tries it wired, because I don't need another Bluetooth gamepad.

I just got the Ipega PG 9083 for my Surface GO. I can confirm that it works in xinput mode via USB and dinput via Bluetooth.

I've installed a hacky driver to convert dinput to xinput system wide, and now my gamepad don't work in Bluetooth at all even after deinstallation... So I'm stuck in wired mode now -.-

It's crazy that there isn't a single tablet gamepad on the market that works in xinput via Bluetooth -.- Actually, I know of only 2 tablet gamepad on the whole market - and I have both now... Are there any other alternative I'm missing?

It fit perfectly in Bluetooth mode, but the USB type C connector is slightly covered by the gamepad so I have to move it a bit up when used in USB mode - still usable though.

RE: Microsoft Surface GO?
yup,   I've looked at the Surface Go, Gole1, Mix Plus... etc... trying find a switch format alternative to the Clamshell GPD.

I love the power of GPD but I have carpell tunnel and get hand cramps from that form factor.

I have an Ipega 9023, but I been looking for a wired alternative.

Ipega 9083 and a tablet might do me for a while til some company thinks of people like me. unfortunately might be a long wait.

Oh, sorry to hear about your carpell tunnel :(
Also, please make sure to get the 8GB RAM version of Surface GO.

Btw, I can't afford a Surface GO (yet?), so tomorrow I've decided to buy a brand new ALLDOCUBE Mix Plus from a local seller.
Even though, it's a poor man's (only has 4GB of RAM :(  ) Surface GO, I'm still excited and can't wait to get my hands on it!!
