Neo Geo are a old console that was release some year after the Genesis but in the same lap of time of the Sega Dreamcast, if you know the console history a little bit.

Mame are the emulation for arcade roms (like Xenophobe, Gladiator 1984, and others).

The Neo Geo AES was the home system released by SNK.  The appeal to that is that the exact same game from the arcade could be played at home.  At that time in the arcade was the Neo Geo MVS.  You could even get a memory card that worked in both systems so you could continue your game or use a custom team like in Baseball Stars 2.  There are MAME emulators out there that emulate The MVS, howevwer I do know there are different romsets for these.  The a330 is not emulating the AES, it is emulating the MVS.  I do know at this time even though it is emulating 3 arcade systems, cps1,cps2,mvs, it does not support MAME.  It was a good question.  Hope I helped a little. ;D
