Is it OK to format the Gemei?
« on: March 03, 2011, 01:45:04 am »
Sorry to have such a noob question, but is it safe to simply format the Gemei using Windows, or is there a special procedure? I just have a stubborn corrupted folder, and I want to get rid of it...

I got the same problem.

From what I read on all board, you got to format it with a XP or a Linux in FAT32 to make it work and have no trouble.

Isn't it possible to run chkdsk / error checking on it and fix the problem that way, or have you already tried that?

yesterday i just formated my brand new gemei a330 affter being pissed of because that goddam thing doesnt find any roms even doing the update jukebox process..

i just formated the gemei a330 in the windows 7  format function,  with a tear in my eye (thinking that process will kill my gemei forever) but i did .. and surprise... is still alive... and working.. then i put the old firmware 1.0 then i update to the official 1.1 version.. and no find roms.. but today.. i had a crazy ideia to put the emulators in the  native "record" paste ... of the gemei a330 and update the jukebox.. and is find the roms...  ;D

I my previous topic about GA330 update,
http://boards.dingoonity.org/gemei-a330/firmware-update-impossible-(gemei-a330-fashion)/
I did format it (windowsXP, fat32...), and got no problem.

But your model is a GA330E not a GA330.

Yes, but it uses the same firmware and every component is the same but the lack of WiFi module.
So I guess there should not be any problem...
Actually, I did not even thought about anything that could happen, when formatting it.
You just have to have some backup of the folder structure, or download it from gbatemp GA330 review!
