Gemei A330 firmware?
« on: December 05, 2010, 11:47:51 pm »
Hello. I still havent got my a330 yet but was doing my regular google search for gemei a330 and saw a few links for a firmware download version 1.0.  Im wondering if it is 1.0 already installed or if this is newer?  Or if anyone wants to install it and see what happens?  The release date of the file is nov 29th.  Heres a link http://drivers.mydrivers.com/download/409-163851-Gemei-A330-1.0-/  Im wondering when snes emulation is going to be added to the device and seeing as im drunk and have nothing better to do i opened the file in a hex editor and saw smc mentioned a few times next to strings like smd, nes, cp2 etc. So will this firmware add snes support?  Or is it just wishful thinking ???

Hi.

I got my A330 some days ago, from Deal Extreme, and it included Firmware 1.0 (09/2010, but available on Gemei website in november).

I updated my system with another firmware but it was an older one, so I switched back to 1.0 !

Just don't update anything if your system's date is september 2010. ;)

By the way, official firmware and emulators can be found on Gemei website : http://www.gemeitech.com/Download.asp

No SNES support for the moment. The software included is really poor.

You're welcome. ;)

For the screen protection thing, I did the same as you : I fought with it, there were bubble everywhere and I threw it away ! I don't think the screen is this exposed. You just have to be cautious.

Can you just buy an Iphone screen protector and use that instead?

Sebnec where did you download the other firmware version?  I ask because only the first couple of times that I turned my unit on did I get the Gemei startup screen.  But now when I power on I get a quiet buzz noise then the menus, no logo.  I thought Id try to reinstall v1.0 but it wont install, telling me its the same version already installed.  Dont know if reflashing would do the trick but worth a try?  I think its since I copied a few thousand roms in 1 folder via usb and it kind of froze the device, had to power off... I think everything else works, although I copied doom and that didnt load.  May be unrelated...  8)
[edit]Yeah i copied doom across again. Works now  :)

xdf, here is the direct link to the previous firmware (older and not recommended, of course) :

Dingoo Brazil has a post up about the 1.1 firmware here: http://www.dingoobr.com/?p=3756

The user apparently has 1.1 beta firmware and shows some photos to prove it.

Sounds like some nice little improvements to the UI, but still no confirmation of SNES support.
