Factory emulators have been updated !!

Hello all,

While investigating a problem with GBA emulator settings( in this thread http://boards.dingoonity.org/gemei-a330/saving-gba-custom-button-arrangement/msg31966/), we have noticed that my GA330 was supplied with some updated versions of native emulators.

In particular the GBA and MVS emulators were 1.0 in older units and I have 1.1 (find them here):

The versions I have are these:

What version is your SNES emulator? Mine is 1.0 (the one on the wiki page).

Older units had NES v1.0, but the 1.1 update was found previously.

Older units had NES v1.0, but the 1.1 update was found previously.

Console didn't have an SNES emulator installed (it had firmware 1.0 installed).
I have the SNES emulator that came with Firmware 1.1 build 3 (I think it is v1.0).

This emulator (GBA  v1.1) have problems with camelot games...
I prefer use the v1.0 for while is better

Could you be specific? I tried golden sun and it seemed to play with less lag. But it did freeze up after a little while.

I replayed the same section of golden sun (elemental star chamber) up to the point where it froze last time using 1.1, and it didn't freeze again. It played full speed and didn't suffer any slowdown.

I also tried 1.0, which lagged like all hell. but it also didn't freeze.

I have the same ones as cex on my Fashion (no multiplayer) version. Although I updated the firmware as soon as I got it (the one in the gemei website) so I can't tell if it has something to do with it.

Oddly, my CPS1.SIM, CPS2.SIM and md.SIM have a different size than cex's


cex's original specs:

In fact, the only ones that match are the ones I've updated.
I wonder if they did tweaks on the emulators that they didn't update the version number for.
But it's only a few bytes difference... What could possibly have changed?

Although differences is size seem to be small they could imply big changes, but it's not easy to find out without the sources.

I can confirm that your md.SIM should be 1.1 but was never labeled as such. My version of the file contains a .5 second sound lag that makes most games unplayable, but when I put your version in... there is no lag at all! They fixed it but never told anybody!

EDIT: sadly it didn't fix the sound bug I found in Sonic 2.

Thanks for letting us know, yes the sound delay is gone on the MegaDrive emu, but the sample rate seems lower as some sounds are worse than before.

I noticed that it was different but thought it was just in my head. I guess we just have to choose the lesser of two evils, bad sound or lag sound.

I tried the new GBA-emulator with golden sun, and it froze up. However, before it froze, it worked flawlessly. With the old version the sound is so bad that it slows the game down, but with the new version the graphics were fast and smoothe until it crashed.

Anyone know a way around the crash-problem?

It seems to freeze up at specific points. My solution would be to save often using save states and when you freeze, put in the old GBA.sim to get past that point.
It's a hassle though.

It crashes so often that I think that would be a waste of time =)
No chance that anyone will come up with a mod or a new version of the GBA-emu, that actually works?

A free advice, the updated emulators are better for the most part, but I would recommend to keep the CPS2 original emulator. At least in my case, the CPS2 v 1.1. failed to load roms very often. When I returned to v. 1.0 everything loaded flawlessly and the performance was still very good.
