MSX Emulation

Is there an MSX emulator in development for GCW Zero? Or is there a current emulator that has MSX support?

I know of OpenMSX, although I stumbled onto it, and haven't even tried it out, and it was last updated in January, so beware. It might work though.

That version still works, but I'll make a newer build one of these days and also test if the Zero is fast enough to enable the reverse feature.

How do you setup this version to run?
I cant find any documentation for where to put the bios/files for the zero  and it wont start in gmenu.
any help would be appreciated.

Edit: Never mind, got it to run at last!

I don't think you need the bios to run msx1/2 roms
I think that the cbios  v.025 is already preloaded with the emu.
the only reason I know this is because I managed to get it to run games even though I had put the bios in the wrong folder!
Also I could only get the openmsx.opk to run from the internal memory, I could not get it to run from external sd card.
I think you need different bios if you want to run disk or tape games though.
They go  in the usr/local/home/.openMSX/share/systemroms folder
Hope this helps!

I first put the bios in a folder called .openmsx/share/systemroms and after the emu ran it had created another  folder with uppercase .openMSX next to the .openmsx one.

I have also deleted the bios folder afterwards and it still runs msx roms ok.

I also renamed the openMSX_v0.9.1-13132_(GCW_Zero).opk to openMSX.opk.

Have you got it running now with/without bios?

Yes i changed the filename, that was the problem. The bios is included as you said, you can look in the opk with 7zip for example 😉
