Ohoho, a wild Tux appeared! Taking only 18% CPU in a level, and with a sensible default button mapping (the d-pad and B+A, Select to leave) and remappable buttons. I like this.

Thanks for this port :)

The only issue I have with it is the title screen: it skips frames, as if it were under heavy load, but it's at just 11% CPU. That gives a bad impression of what will follow, but the levels themselves are smooth.

Seems to work perfectly.  Should be included in the repository and new units!

Actually... not so fast.

The title screen indicates that this is version 0.1.1, not 0.1.3 (what happened?), and the ability to remap buttons appears to work at first glance, but no remapping ever becomes active.

Try it for yourself: Go to Options, Joystick Action Setup, and change the two actions (Jump and Run) to B and X instead of A and B. Then, in-game, hold X and press B to jump. Tux doesn't jump. The mapping is still A and B.

Hehe, picky picky... I think it's good enough, because the default controls are fine and the game looks and plays great.

I dealt with this in ReGBA; I tested every control preference to make sure it was visible, applied correctly, and saved to file. I get to be picky.

If you provide a user preference in a GCW Zero port, you can change it, and it doesn't apply, then that user preference is broken. Having a sensible default button mapping but no way to remap it, is better than having a sensible default button mapping and a preference to remap it which does not apply. The GCW Zero software porting guidelines would currently prevent this port from going into the repository.

Note that this post does not criticise d_smagin, the port, or the game; it's more of a bug report.

A version of Super Tux is now in the repository, for those reading the ends of threads.

http://www.gcw-zero.com/downloads

This version removes the user preference for button remapping and uses A for jumping and B for running and shooting fireballs.
