Hello.
Here's the port of Streets Of Rage Remake v5a
Original site: http://www.bombergames.net/sorr_project/ (http://www.bombergames.net/sorr_project/)

Download opk: http://www.sendspace.com/file/sjrpo1 (http://www.sendspace.com/file/sjrpo1)
http://www.sendspace.com/file/uyo40u (http://www.sendspace.com/file/uyo40u)
Playable, but debbuging on setting saves in progress ...
You must remove $HOME/.sorrv5a directory to use the last savegame/mapping.
Explain:
-The savegame is automaticaly created in the game directory. As we don't have source code, we don't modify it.
To make an opk (read-only), I create a symlink in it from /tmp/.sorrv5a_savegame. And at each start of the game, I add a symlink from $HOME/.sorrv5a to /tmp/.sorrv5a_savegame. Thanks to the gcw team for this better solution !
-I use the PC version of SORRv5a to access mapping menu. I make a new mapping from Wiz version. It seems I have a conflit with the Select(equiv 'Esc' on keyboard) button, the police comes at the fisrt time and try to escape as 'Start button' the second one.
-
Hi,
I downloaded it and put it on my SD card. The games launches well, but I can't go after the player select, no button works except Select which brings back to the menu. I also tried to configure controls without any success.
Do I miss something ?
Thx.
-
Exit the game and retry. If it doesn't work, try putting the OPK in the internal memory.
-
Hell ya! Thank You for porting this!
-
i am noob i cant pass the character selection on this game using the gamepad controller because the start button doesnt work in this mode...using keyboard controller you can pass the character selection but doesnt have the buttons to punch or call the police :(
-
I confirm... in the characters selection screen the d-pad and start button don't work (the analog stick works instead of the d-pad )...
PS: I did a quick test, so it's possible that I let some configurations get away!
-
I was able to FTP the .opk into the /media/data/apps folder on my GCW but the game isn't showing up even after a reboot. Am I missing something?
-
Probably the transfer went wrong and the file is corrupted. Try to transfer it again.
-
You have to set the controls to keyboard and map the keys for this to work. Then everything is fine.

I just tried this and it works, thanx :)
Enjoy the game now !
Edit : it doesn't keep the settings, I have to do this every time I play. The game is on the SD Card, should I put it on the internal memory ?
Edit 2 : the same on the internal memory
-
it keeps the settings for me. Haven't tried to rebind controls, but it remembers all the graphic/game/sound settings, as well as my progress in the game and unlocked content.
I have it stored in the internal memory.

I put the opk in the internal storage memory and I have the same problem... the settings are not saved, so every time I have to set them from the beginning...
-
Yes, I am really enjoying this, as it is an awesome game and very well done! My problem is that I can 't find a way to save my game or settings. I have to redo the controls each time and if I beat the game, it won't save anything so I can't unlock anything. I have mine in the internal storage as a opk file. Thanks for such an awesome game.
-
Is there any autorization to set on a folder for example, so that the config file can be written ?
-
When the game runs for the first time it makes a work-dir (.sorrv5a) in the home folder (usr/data/local/home), I checked this work-dir with an FTP client and inside there is nothing (in theory there should be a config file)... I checked also the chmod and the access permissions code is "755" as the others work-dirs in the home folder...
PS: I tried to change the SORRv5a.opk access permissions, but the "problem" remains the same!

Hi hi-ban, could you check if you have a file in the folder given by Gab1975 above and if so, give it to us ? I'd like to try and see if it could work, once the file exists.
Thanx :)
-
The game should create a savegame file inside the .sorrv5a folder.
I believe the configs are saved in that file, along with your game progress.

Did you change some access permissions or simply put the opk file in "apps" folder?
-
i simply put the OPK in the apps folder, in the internal memory.
-
But you beta-tested it, no? My guess is that the "savegame" folder is not created.

it's a bit strange... I uploaded two time the SORRv5a.opk in the internal storage memory... the first time the software didn't create any directory in home folder*, the second time it created the ".sorrv5a" directory*, but nothing was written inside...
* after the first start.
-
Sorry, I forget to add the savegame in the opk. I upload the new file.
If anyone find a better mapping, I can update the savegame in the opk.

Thanx for the new file but the game doesn't run anymore. When launching with A, I've got a black screen and then the Zero comes back to its menu.
-
And now ?
( I modify the script to test it on PC and forget to undo it )
-
I did as you wrote in first post, delete /home/.sorrv5a. Then I run the game from the SD card
I have the same thing : when running again the game, it's like it was the first time. Which is strange is that the folder and savegame file was created.
I did the same, with deleting the folder, from the internal memory and the same thing occured.
Every time, after changing controls, I launch a game and play a little, then quit back to the menu, and then push on Select to quit the game back to the menu of the Zero.
-
the same thing happens to me... now in the "../home/.sorrv5a" folder a sub-directory named "savegame" (with inside the file "savegame.sor") is created, but every time that I restart the game I need to set up everything from the beginning...
-
Any news about the new update of the streets of rage? i want to play this game :)
-
Did anyone had any strange crashes (return back to gmenu) following specific paths?
-
I completed the game using most different paths and no problem here.

You're lucky ;)
I'm waiting for the correction of the bug regarding the saves (controls, etc.)
-
anyone still have a working copy of this?
-
anyone still have a working copy of this?
From a cursory reading of the thread, I gather that there never was a "working version". It has crashes and problems with saving.
-
Some people seems to get it working fine, i'll test it tonight and tell you if it's working fine for me.
-
this is the version i have, it's working fine for me:
https://mega.co.nz/#!gx0VTZpR!KrYGtz9hZ758yz81QJP9IypfthMDatBnH1nDtgsheBU
if it doesn't save, try creating this folder in your unit: /media/data/local/home/.sorrv5/savegame/
-
Thanks hi-ban !
Your version is working fine, no problem with the saves, only thing i regret on this game it's the lack of savestates (useful when you re playin on your way to work ;) )
There's some minor graphic bugs with the shadows or with some weapons when you check em very closely but it's a minor detail.
Very happy to be able to play sorr on my GCW 8)
-
I can't select a character in either 1-player or "CPU friend" mode. The only control that appears to be mapped is Select, which takes me back to the main game options screen.
Help?
-
Mine has all buttons working without problems. If buttons don't work, then maybe you have a version for a different console or for PC.

I'm using the copy you provided.

try deleting the /media/data/local/home/.sorrv5/ folder.
where do you have the game installed? i have it in the internal memory.

Interesting. I created it in the first place to be sure that there would be a savegame folder, as per your suggestion earlier in the thread. I'm guessing that's what screwed up the default configuration. When I started the game the first time, I had to choose language and rendering options. Deleting the ~/.sorrv5 folder entirely and restarting the game removed the initial config options and fixed the controls.
where do you have the game installed? i have it in the internal memory.
It took about thirty minutes, but I moved it from the external SD card to the apps directory before I tested it in the first place. I really wish we'd get updated firmware with working SD drivers.
-
the route of the first game gives me a crash after a few seconds...
Also you can't select VSYNC, if so, the game crash and you go bacl to ODingux.
(I'm using Hi ban version)
strange....
edit-> it seem to be more stable now, don't know why.
Pity there's no working v-sync :(
-
I'm curious: why play this instead of just playing the real streets of rage through emulation?
-
because it's an updated version of the 3 SoR in 1.
Like arcade Nightslasher VS Homebrew Nightslasher X version for exemple.
-
You got all 3 street of rage, with some new effects, the battle style of SOR2 or 3 (you can choose), new enemies, new stages, new playable characters, Adam character graphic redone and playable on all SOR, custom routes/paths for stages, additional items, remastered music and new music, whole new campaign, new moves, and a lot of other things... It's just GREAT.
Dumb Sega asked the developers (fan project) to delete the game and stop working on it, if they were intelligent they needed to work with em and not stop the project.
:)

In my opinion, this remake is just one of the best beat-them-all games ever !
I already spent a lot of time on this GCW version.
I think the "shop" where you can unlock things (characters, bonus, etc.) with the money you won during the game is a very great idea and makes the game very challenging.
And the remastered musics are so nice !
I just hope we'll have one day an optimized version for the Zero because I often encounter crashes during the game (especially on the first stage).
The game quit suddenly and returns to the open dingux menu :(
Fortunately, a savestate is automatically created at the beginning of each stage, so if, for instance, the game crashes during the stage 2, I must restart from the beginning of stage 2 when I relaunch the game ...
I really hope someone will access the source code one day to offer us a dedicated version of this great game.

Is the link broken? All I get is blank screen with a cloud asking to follow in the bottom right-hand corner.
-
Link is still up. just checked. Try using a different browser, i have no problems with Chrome.
-
Thanks. That did it :)
-
Someone know how to fix the game to make it working with the new firmware ? Can't start the game anymore :/
-
This game and solarus needs a good update. For example solarus now have a update in their page the version its 1.2.The GCW version for solarus have this number 1.1 and dont see the new update here.I hope we get updated version of street of rage remake and solarus.

Solarus 1.2 depends on SDL2, wich is currently broken on GCW-Zero (http://boards.dingoonity.org/gcw-development/sdl2-issues-on-2014-05-05-toolchain/). I'm waiting for the next toolchain/firmware release to try again.
-
I am probably premature here since my thinkgeek unit is still on the way, but thank you for the port job. Played the hell out of streets of rage 2, tried the other two in emulation, and frankly sort even in v4 was miles above the genesis ga,es. Glad to see v5 ported over even if a few hoops need jumping through.

I downloaded and installed the .opk and the game crashes whenever I select it from the open dingux menu. Can this be caused by bad installation or incompatibility between firmware releases? I think it may have transferred incorrectly from my computer to the GCW Zero. Is anyone else having this problem?
-
I have been having trouble playing Streets of Rage and King of Fighters remakes. Whenever I try to open them, the games crash and I return to the menu.

You need unzip those OPK to SDcard, tap "select" in GCW0 GAME section to "Add link in games", it will works fine then.
-
Ok, I installed the Streets of Rage and I pressed select to add links in Games. What folder do I have to use to make it work? I am using internal memory for this game.

The one you extracted the OPK's contents into, if you followed finalmix's instructions.
-
Just like Gab1975 said, the Streets of Rage doesn't create a folder for itself. I tried creating a new folder in media (see hi ban's previous post) but that isn't detected by my GCW Zero. Can it also be possible that the game doesn't function in the newer firmware which was released? Norghat had the same problem.
-
Changes in the 2014-05-05 firmware have broken the launching for this game, but not the game itself. So to make it work, you essentially need to subvert the OPK format.
If you extract the OPK, by which finalmix means "take the OPK, which contains compressed files, and extract its contents as regular files, to then transfer the result", you can then create a link in gmenu2x to the program file in the folder you transferred.
-
Clearly I am doing something wrong. I have extracted the OPK and copied the files onto my zero, and I can verify that they exist by looking them up in dingux commander, but they don't show up in explorer at all. When I try to add a link to the game, I can find the directory that the game is in, but the game itself doesn't show up. What am I missing?
Also, is there a way to fix the OPK for games like this, that fail to launch?
-
Well I will post this to save others some time.
This release as of right now wont work at all until its fixed by the person who ported it, The OPK is seemingly not compatible with the previous (not the latest as of posting) firmware and unpacking the OPK to its raw files wont work nether since .dge is no longer a supported file extension and even then the file doesn't work on the current firmware.
I'll drop the OP a PM about this though :)
-
Yeah it'll be nice if someone do another port, i loved playing this game on my gcw :)
-
Here is a working OPK:
Download:

Mirror 1:
https://mega.co.nz/#!o4FnQJKL!WpLc14COEHn_Vj1bMM6PJWlWchthAoZJonR9QyaEAl8
basically what i did was adding #!/bin/sh to the launcher script and repacking everything into a new OPK, and that was all.
Enjoy!
-
Cheers Hi-Ban, I tried getting this working and nearly got a strong talking too about it :P
been really wanting to mess with this
-
Thanks a lot hi-ban! You don't happen to have a working opk of Flames of Courage as well do you? Not a big deal if you don't since if it's as easy as adding that one line to the script I'll give it a try this weekend.

The game works without problems... the only "flaws" are the software frame buffer and little glitches in the sprites shadows...

Thanks hi-ban for the fixes...im reporting a bug in this game when you start the stage 6 the game crash and you are returning to the launcher of the gcw zero.
-
There is no source code, so any bugs wont be fixed. They can't be fixed.
-
Thank you, grom, for the porting, and hi-ban for the repackaging/debugging.. such a good remake of one of my top-five-favorite games. The remixed soundtrack is so awesome.. one of the best game soundtracks ever!
Unfortunately, the program seems to crash randomly while playing.. Anything I can do to help with this?
-
Hello, this is an old thread but i would like to ask.
Is it possible to port Final Fight LNS ULTIMATE for OpenDingux?
