[bugged, not final] Shadow Warrior
« on: September 12, 2014, 10:41:09 pm »
Here is a working OPK (Street of Rage):

Download:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/scmedg
Mirror 1:
https://mega.co.nz/#!o4FnQJKL!WpLc14COEHn_Vj1bMM6PJWlWchthAoZJonR9QyaEAl8

basically what i did was adding #!/bin/sh to the launcher script and repacking everything into a new OPK, and that was all.

Enjoy!

Hi, everyone!  ;)

As hi-ban did for both Street of Rage & KOF, i edited the launcher for Shadow Warrior and repacked it for make it work...

https://www.sendspace.com/file/v9ezve

Don't forget to put the original data (the grp file) in the .jfsw folder  :) otherwise, you will get the demo...

Have fun, guys!  ;D

As johnnyonflame and hi-ban mentionned at the end of this topic, the version of Shadow Warrior that i uploaded was not final, and still had bug on it, so i delete the links ; sorry for the inconvenience...

Thanks for the fix! :)
There are redundant options and the background music doesn't work, but on the whole the game already runs very well !

If Shadow Warrior is anything like Eduke32 - you're getting a missing data error on the console and the game expects you to confirm it with enter, and that's why it idles on a black screen.

Yea im checking versions of files the upper / lower case isnt an issue here but I'm trying the GOG version now, I was trying the Steam version of the data files before which should have been ok, since its supposed to be the same files with a newer build engine.

So far my log is:

Code: [Select]
Initialising SDL system interface (compiled with SDL version 1.2.15, DLL version 1.2.14)
Using "fbcon" video driver
Detecting video modes:

Type 'SW -?' for command line options.

ERROR: Failed to load TABLES.DAT!

I have tried the GOG version and the Steam version's files with the same result and I have been putting them in ~/.jfsw/

If anyone has ant idea's I am happy to hear them, otherwise ill try again a bit later :)

I personally tried both Steam and GOG versions, and they seems to work correctly for me...

The fact is, I played that game at the time where the opk stored here worked on the old firmware (sw_rev2.opk) :

Link deleted

At that period, the game created the config file, and I didn't have any trouble like this one... so when I repacked the opk with the good line in the header, I used my old config file...

I can precise that my date file is fully lower case, too (sw.grp).

Just in case, I have uploaded my config file, could you please tell me if this solves your problems ?

https://www.sendspace.com/file/kvn8ma (see first post of the thread)

I'm a beginner on the GCW-0, and I didn't work on this port before  :( but I would be happy to help if I can  ;)

Please stop repacking old development versions and releasing them. This goes to all of you.
There's a reason I didn't create a release thread fyi, and I'd love to keep it this way. These OPKs were not supposed to be public, we only gave the link away because we felt like the earlier adopters and general people on irc would enjoy it.

alexei, what he means is that those apps are unfinished/buggy/unpolished. They are not proper releases.
And if there is one thing which is not good for any device, is having different buggy versions of apps floating there, because  then, even if there is a proper release, many people will be mistakenly linked to those bad versions.

It already happened in the dingoo, there were outdated "local packs" floating there, and many people just downloaded those bad packs instead of getting the latest versions separately, and later complained that "X emulator does not work" when those issues were already fixed months ago.

If you want to play that buggy versions, well, do it if you want, but don't expect help if they have an issue, because they are expected to have many issues.

I've removed this app from the Release Index.
In the future, please beta test your software before posting it to the Releases subforum.

Maybe this topic should be moved to the "Development" section and the opk link turned on again... ;)
