so why did they go with a MIPS again?  It seems to cause problems.
How is that possibly a MIPS problem? You realize I could say the same about ARM, right? Not being able to run dynarec cores designed for MIPS. "Let's disregard the MIPS architecture, because it doesn't run this one core of this one emulator, that was never even designed with this arch in mind".
We chose MIPS because it's a continuation of our work on A320's OpenDingux. If we chose ARM, GCW Zero would never happen because nobody would be interested.

It just seems like several times when people ask about certain systems being emulated, the answer sometimes is that it doesn't work with mips.

Incorrect.
When people are asking about ARM dynarec cores, then the answer is "It's written in ARM assembly, so it work work on MIPS".

All the emulators can run on MIPS if they are portably written.

Excellent version of picodrive, lots of bugs have been fixed, even Pier Solar is working now.

Please can you share how to get working the pier solar in the picodrive? What configuration do you have?

You need to put waves in the same directory (folder) of the iso... you don't forget to use the correct "cue" file (if needed you can edit it with a simple word-pad), it's required to allow the playback of "CD-DA" in the SEGA-CD games!  ;)

PS: I suggest you to make a sub-directory for each SEGA-CD game and put inside the cue, the iso and the waves concerning the game...

I thought ISO didn't capture the audio (normal cd sound) tracks and the only way for that was to use a .bin rip of a cd?

I tested both ISO+Waves and BIN... the CD-DA audio works well, the main thing is to utilize the appropriate ".cue"* file!

 * a .cue is a "text file" which describes how the tracks of a CD/DVD are laid out.

It works. I had an issue with the initial setup where the ROM asks you to initialize a save. I pressed X+A (or maybe it was B), and got past the initialize error.

This is the real downside of copy protection. You can't even buy this game if you want to.

With Picrodrive 1.91 the game has stoppages of minutes in some spoken parts.

Go to the icon for genplus and press select, then choose edit. Go to Selector Directory and navigate to your folder containing Genesis roms, then press start. Now, when you start genplus, your Genesis rom list should come up, select one and it should start.
