Picodrive 1.91
« on: October 13, 2013, 07:41:47 pm »
Hi guys,

Today, I bring you the very latest PicoDrive, the excellent Megadrive/SegaCD/32X emulator.

I worked with Notaz to add OpenDingux as an official platform supported by upstream Picodrive; which basically means we will keep in sync with the most recent improvements and developments.

I don't have a changelog, there are just too many changes since the old v1.35 we used to have.

Download here.
Sources here.

Kudos to hi-ban for the background image and icon.

Looks like it doesn't (that's what I've been told but I didn't test it myself). I edited the first post.

Hell yeah, thanks for all the hard work!

Since this is on the official Picodrive development stream, does that mean ISO/MP3 images are no longer supported?

Is it true that this version doesn't support mp3 audio with sega CD games?

Thanks for this new version.
I remember playing Virtua Racing on GP2X with a great speed.
And on GCW Zero I have a slow 5fps... strange.

Great to see the next release will also work on OpenDingux.
Thanks.

Thanks for this.
I played Pitfall for 32X and although I tried to juggle with options a bit, it's still slow, around 17FPS...

True!

Then I guess I'll have to [pokerface]re-rip my sega-cd cd's to a different format[/pokerface]

They are supported if MP3 is enabled on the toolchain, which is not the case (as we don't have the license).

This build is far far better than the earlier 1.35 port, I noticed a rather nasty issue with the save screen in Monster World IV, and that's gone now. This actually is buttery smooth it's wonderful.

Ah ok. OGG would be nice in this case.

Something else I noticed, ROMs with .md extension are no longer supported.  Should be just a matter of renaming my files.
Actually, PicoDrive appears to be choking on some ZIP files.  Not sure why but I'm going uncompressed now.

Hmm. So, can you play it by just converting the MP3 files to another format?

Not likely.  The reasons I bring up OGG (Vorbis) is that it's free, open source and generally better at compression than MP3.  Temper (PCE-CD emulator) supports OGG for audio playback, no license needed.

I've noticed the some games (mega turrican) are full screen and some (lotus turbo challenge) aren't. There is no way to scale them right?
