« on: January 04, 2014, 08:36:53 am »
Hello,
Here is a new version of mame4all but don't be too much happy, it's only a small release with some fixes, sorry about that, do not have time to work on it during last days but now we can play Ghost'n Goblins  ;)

 You can download here :
- mame4all GCW0 v1.2 : Mame4All executables
- mame4all GCW0 v1.2 source code : Mame4All source code

Warning, big file to download, more than 15MB !

To use it, unzip archive, put opk file in apps directory of your GCW0.
Others text files are gamelist and rom files needed for each game.

what's new :
Quote
MAME4ALL GCW0 1.2 (04/01/2014)
------------------------------
Added: little hero in m62.cpp driver (from Mame095).
   Added: Snapshot key with L+B.
Fixed: directory problem due to arg passsed to mame (now static variables are used).
Fixed: region1 rom added for Toki(JP) in toki.cpp driver and also fix sound.
Fixed: graphics glitches for Ghosts'n Goblins in tilemap.cpp (certainly fix others games).
Fixed: Various fixes and add Ken-Go,Cosmic Cop in m72.cpp driver, but sound is still bad and games are slow :(.

Added: history.dat  (from A380 Slaanesh Native version).
Fixed: Avengers in in lwings.cpp driver (from A320 Slaanesh Native version).
Updated: Change Jackal cpu frequency (from A380 Slaanesh Native version).
Enjoy :) !

Thanks a lot! :)
PS: I tried Hammerin' Harry and I noticed that the game has various slowdowns, while R-Type runs at about full speed... if I remember well both coin-ops should use the same hardware, that is an Irem M72 board...

Edit: I put it in my roms folder. Love it!

How does one go about accessing "soft DIP" settings for systems such as CPS1/CPS2 or NeoGeo? And does this port of MAME4All support saving states (RAM snapshots)?

...long game titles lead to a weirdly mangled display in the game list in the new release.

Thanks for the updated release!

Any chance of adding support for original sound samples for Phoenix in a future release? It's one of my all-time favorites and full sound emulation would make this old arcade-junkie a very happy man.
They're supported in other versions of MAME (UI32, etc.) but I've yet to see any mame4all release that supports them.

Do you have an example please ?

Strange, even Mame0.150 does not use samples for phoenix, all sounds are fully emulated. Do you have a specific version of mame for samples ?

For some reason MAME is not recognizing any of my roms. I have 0.37b5 roms and I checked the files and the CRCs to make sure that they were correct but no matter where I place them I always get the "Error. No roms found" prompt. What's going on here?

The first time you run mame4all, you need to select the correct directory where your roms are.
Than , press START and it will be ok.

Nice release alekmaul, nice to see that Hi scores and GnG now work  ;D.

Some Notes:

  • I can also confirm the error with long rom names on the rom list
  • The config settings (scaling type, audio quality, frameskip etc) is still a universal save and not saved for each individual game.
  • Outrun, Rolling Thunder 2, Ninja Spirit and Dragon Breed still dont run great. Regarding Ninja Spirit and Dragon Breed they both use the same hardware as Hammer'in Harry could it be to do with that the refresh rate of this hardware for these games is 55hz???

Note that when you navigate to your ROM folder to set it's location, you have to enter it (not just highlight it), then press start. Also note that when you do enter it you won't see any files because it's looking for folders, not files.

Im not sure if this is releated to the above problem, but i have noticed in the mame4all folder that all the game .cfg files are being saved in a folder called frontend and not the cfg folder that is present!??

Wait a moment... the config settings is for each game and not general... I set different options for different games and they were saved properly...

Sure. "Super Dodge Ball / Kunio no Nekketsu Toukyuu Densetsu" (which is as much as I can see) is long enough to cause the list to wrap around. "nsets" gets printed to the extreme left, and the U is truncated. Any other title around this length is causing the same effect.

Any word on how to enter "soft-DIP" settings menus in CPS and Neo-Geo games? And how to save game states, if that's possible?

Thanks!

Hello and thx for this nice update, just a little minor problem for toki, the death sound of toki (outch kind of scream) is not played when dying.
The sound fx seem a little too low compared to the music.
Also I don't see the japanese set of toki in the romlist, I checked at Juju (jap original name of toki) and at toki, but can see any jap toki version :)

Thanks for the history.dat add :)
