Hi all,

I have a problem with two games :
- Viewpoint : the games launches but crashes at the menu, the emulator stops and the Zero comes back to its menu
- Rage Of The Dragons : I've some graphics glitches, some elements are missing like the life bar of the characters

Does anyone have thes problems too ?

Thx

I corfirm... Viewpoint crashes after the Sammy logo animation and Rage of Dragons has some graphic glitches (like the lack of the life-bar)

PS: I tried various ROMs.

I can run it without problem, using FBA with Capex UI.
You have to set the 68K Emu Core to "M68K" for it to run properly.

Viewpoint does not even load for me on FBA with Capex UI  ??? (tried M68K setting too). The same rom loads fine on GNGEO and FBA without Capex but crashes after the sammy logo or when i insert a coin.

Maybe you have a bad BIOS... I'm using the Universe BIOS 3.0 (renamed to asia-s3.rom for FBA to recognice it)

I did use the same BIOS, but I did not know I have to rename it for FBA to recognize it. It still does not work though, do I have to put it in a specific folder?

If the rom loads without a "missing file" message, then it's fine.

When I try to load it says "Error loading rom (not found)" so I guess it actually is missing something. Any ideas what could be the issue?

in your neogeo.zip, there should be 4 files:

asia-s3.rom (the BIOS of your choice, i use the UniBios 3.0 for obvious reasons)
000-lo.lo (CRC32: 5A86CFF2)
sfix.sfix (CRC32: C2EA0CFD)
sm1.sm1 (CRC32: 94416D67)

As i initially had problems making FBA to detect my neogeo.zip, i just skipped that and manually added the above mentioned files inside each neo-geo rom.

Found the error: my sfix.sfix was named sfix.sfx. renamed it and now View Point works like a charm. Thanks alot!

You just need those 4 files in the bios???? (or you must absolutely have these files and the rest of them? :))
also I have checked the crc's of my viewpoint romset and some aren't good, there's even roms that aren't the same at all.
My fba romset is recent, I tried with the last mame romset too (0.151) they are the same.
I guess the gngeo romset is way older than my roms.
Is there a place to get a working romset for gcw fba/gngeo?
THX :)

Problem solved with the fba m68k core trick!
thanks Hi-ban, the bad crc weren't the problem.
viewpoint works with fba (not on gngeo here but, don't care as long as it works somewhere^^)
stranglery the dip switches aren't working on viewpoint with unibios 3.0 (you can't move the red arrow)
it work on other games I have tested so far, but not on viewpoint.

Yes, with FBA you only need those 4 files in the neogeo BIOS.

Asking for roms is not allowed in this forum, so you may have to look for them in the internet.

I am having trouble getting this to work.  I tried KoF 98-02 and Metal Slug X but all of them says my rom is too old or something of that nature.  I read all 7 pages and noticed they were fixed mentioned but unfortunately I don't understand how it was fixed since I never really done this kind of stuff except on Windows, i don't understand the infastructure of this OS.  Can someone give me a dummies guy step-by-step after installing this emulator?

Okay, I can Help:

1.  You have to make sure you have the right negeo geo bios in the same directory as you roms (It can probably go somewhere else, but for me thats the easiest)  It's around 1.28 MB, and called neogeo.zip, keep it zipped, google is your friend

2.  The version of the ROM must be the right one, I believe any rom set from the mame .149 version will work, If you need some help PM me, But here's a hint, google Youtube Metal Slug Final Burn Neo Geo rom...you'll find the version you need...its all about proper searching

3.  If you get these peoper roms and bio's gngeo and final burn will work like a hot damn, and the emulation smoothness is AWESOME!  I joyfully payed through Metal slug 1 last night!!  AWESOME!!

On that note, I can't see with my blind eye, but what emulator do you guys think emulates neo geo best?  gngeo or finl burn...I love them both, and of course there is one metal slug I can only play on final burn Metal Slug 5...I think.. ;)

Both emulators are very good for Neo Geo games... but Final Burn Alpha is a little bit better (IMHO)...
Here some examples of why I consider FBA a little bit better:
- the titles that use the raster effects run at full speed (while in the GnGEO they have slowdown);
- Top Hunter, Spin Master and Viewpoint work fine on FBA;
- the service menu is available on FBA, on GnGEO it doesn't.

Would this work with NeoGeo CD games like Samurai Spirits RPG?

The GnGEO is an AES/MVS Neo Geo emulator and not a Neo Geo CD emulator! ;)
