DOSBox 0.74 SVN for GCW0
« on: August 12, 2013, 09:04:56 pm »
Hello, everybody.

Here's DOSBox 0.74 SVN r3820 for GCW-Zero with mipsel32 recompiler and screen keyboard

Controls:
D-PAD - cursor arrows
A - Ctrl
B - Alt
Y - Spacebar
X - Shift
L - Screen keyboard
R - Backspace
Start - Enter
Select - Escape

Screen keyboard controls:
A - normal press
B - 'sticky' press (to do keycombos)
Y - toggle keyboard opaque/transparent
X + D-PAD - move keyboard around the screen

On first run the default dosbox-SVN.conf will be created at ~/.dosbox, you can edit it freely later.
Gmenu2x's file browser is used to launch dos .exe's; *.bat and *.com are not visible for now because they lack in shared-mime library (to be fixed very soon).
UPDATE *.com and *.bat are also shown by file browser (needs gcw OpenDingux update 2013-09-13).

Wow. No replies? Why? Any reports of performance, anyone?
My GCW still han't arrived, but this is (seemingly) amazing news! I dreamed about playing good old Dos games on a device like Zero for so long. Спасибо за вашу работу, Дмитрий :-)!

tested blood, descent I and destruction derby so far, they're not playable, too slow...
Jagges Alliance, Duke Nukem 2 seem to be good.
CPU are cycles=max already frameskip doesn't help.

Never used or installed DosBox before was not to difficult to get up & running, How do you get stretched or full screen?

I tried to play Jones in the fast lane but could not get it to run.

Played Tyrian but for some reason the ship constantly steers to the right hand side, this also happens on a atari emulator i have.

Smth is wrong with joystick calibration. Gcw0's analogue nub works, but in neutral position it works as if it's shifte right.  Please, change joysticktype=auto to joysticktype=none in ~/.dosbox-SVN.conf to eliminate this problem.

Monty Python's Flying Circus DOS game (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eV7r-p3W0nA)
Joystick works, but D-pad does not.
What is the shortcut on GCW0 to close the DosBox?

This means that movement is not mapped on cursor keys (maybe QAOP like in old games).
For exit you can press Ctrl+F9 on virtual keyboard.

I installed "Master of Magic" and it works great except I need some mouse control.    The problem is I can't select my units in the main board.  Most everything else I can get with the keyboard.  Any ideas?

Princess Maker 2 works! Pity the squished text is so hard to read...

It actually loads faster and runs smoother than on my PC. And I'm getting music out with the sound driver set to Sound Blaster, although MIDI doesn't work. This is the opposite of how I got it working on PC (MIDI (MT-32) or GENERAL MIDI (GM) only, no sound with Sound Blaster).
My machines:

Q: is it possible to remap the buttons to include left and right click I was playing gizmos and gadgets and in order to enter a level I have to click on a zone.

Games I've tried that run fine: dangerous dave haunted mansion, duke nukem 12&3, prehistoric 1&2, all commander keens, alone in the dark 12&3, all super solver games, Oregon trail deluxe, beetlejuice, street rod 1&2.  ;D

Games I've tried that run slow: abuse, alien trilogy :(

Your work is greatly appreciated keep it up! 8)

Screen keyboard's function keys only go up to F10, how do you enter F11 and F12?

Which DOS game uses F11/F12 ? Point me at one.

ruffnuts
Yes, you just pick an .exe with filebrowser and it runs. Dos Navigator/commander is not needed actually.

I'm having problems with dosbox, It ran fine at first.
I tried at least 20+ games and they all booted ok.
Now it refuses to run anything! I just get a black screen then it goes back to the file explorer.
I have checked the log viewer an it says segmentation fault.
I  tried formatting the sd card and deleting the config from the .dosbox folder, but It keeps doing the same thing.
all other emus work ok apart from this.
Any help would be appreciated!
