White Screen of Death Help
« on: July 31, 2016, 07:39:25 pm »
Hello all,

I have not used my GCW-Zero in quite some time, probably about a year. When I took it out of its case to use yesterday I was unable to get beyond a white screen upon powering on.

Here are the troubleshooting steps I've tried thus far:

-I tried holding down the reset button multiple times, for varying lengths of time (30 sec, 60 sec, 2 minutes, rapid fire), and each time it reset to a white screen.

-When I attempt to boot into the command mode (not sure what its called, but when you hold select and power slide) I continuously get a black screen until I release the select button, upon which white screen returns. So it will not go into or show me that its booting into this mode.

-I am able to the connect the device via USB to my computer and it is recognized in FileZilla. All my opks, savs, and rom files showed up.

-I deleted all of my OPK's via FZ to see if that resolved the issue. No dice.

-I let the battery cycle all the way till death while it was on the white screen, connected to computer to charge, and still fired into WS. I tried reseting again here, but no resolution.

I appreciate any help or steps I can take.

I have no problem flashing if you think that will work, but am using a Macbook for connection. I'm also not sure if I'm able to flash if I can't boot the device into the proper mode either.

Thanks in advance for anyone who thinks they can assist!

I had the white screen of death, and holding down reset for more than 60 seconds fixed it.  Sorry this didn't work for you.  :(

Just hapened to me and pressing the reset button for a minute did the trick. Did you manage to fix your unit?
